Anybody here

Any Emerson people waiting out there?

I am :) This board is pretty dead though...

So make it not dead and others will join. What do you want to study? What do you know about Emerson. I haven't seen it yet.

I'm here! I'm awaiting my decision. Did anyone else apply for the Honors Program?

I'm also visiting in 3 weeks.

i got in EA but have to wait for the honors status

Zelda - congrats!!

Does anyone know any avg stats for Honors Program?

I applied to the Honors Program. Seems like April 1 is the magic date for this school they have told me. I don't know the stats for honors except what it says on the website which is a little vague except above 1300 plus great e/c's , strong essay etc.

My friend goes to Emerson and absolutely loves in. The campus is great if you enjoy the urban atmosphere, very similar to NYU I think.

I'm kinda anxious about admissions now, largely because I think I have a shot at the Honors Program and I don't know if I would be able to turn down the scholarship attatched to it to attend NYU (where I was just accepted).

bulletproofx, I just got accepted to NYU too! I would have a similar dilemma too...but I just REALLY want to go to NYU. Wish they gave out more scholarships.

The college books seem to indicate that Emerson isn't too good for financial aid/ scholarships. Yes the honors program if accepted is a given scholarship. Most of theirs are based on need or maybe you have to be from Mass. I think. Wish we had some Emerson people out there to tell us about Emerson and their program. I hear the students are kind of unique or a very unusual mix.

did anyone do the viacom scholars thing?

that plus the honors program would basically equal a free ride for me...and although my dad didn't really like emerson, my mom says that's a hard offer to turn down

I was going to do the viacom thing, but I ended up not doing it.

I didn't have time to apply for the honors program. I sthere a way to still be accepted or given the chance to apply later?

For those of you who got into NYU, did you apply to Tisch? NYU and Emerson are my two top schools. I want to get either into the Screenwriting program or the Film program. What about the rest of you?

I did the viacom thing. Was that an anyone who applies gets the opportunity? I couldn't find out anything about it generally online- just what they sent us. 3 executives from viacom have recently been named to the Emerson board and I think one of those has a daughter who will be a freshman at Emerson next year.

I applied to Gallatin at NYU, and created a music business / production + psychology (weird mix, I know) major.

My friend who attends seems to get quite a bit in financial aid, and he isn't poor by any means.

I wasn't elegible for the Viacom scholarship, though they did send me some info about it.
I applied to NYU and was recently accepted at Steinhardt, as a Communications major.

i applied to dramatic writing at myu but havent heard yet...damn tisch

I applied to Emerson for Musical Theater. It is for sure one of my top choices...

Did everyone get the info about the Viacom scholarship, or was it selective?

I got the information for the Viacom scholarship and I'm pretty sure they sent it to everyone because I am not of an ethnic background or a first generation college student and while my family isnt rich, I wouldnt say we are economically challenged.

I applied for theater studies with a focus on management.

I wondered about the same thing above. Probably Scottie is right. Anybody heard or seen anything about buildings being connected at Emerson that makes it a little more winter friendly?

froshtobe-I visited last spring and most of the buildings are connected. I forget exactly how many buildings there are (I wanna say 3-plus a few other building such as the main theater and some dorms). I'm pretty sure all three of those main buildings are connected-but I could be mistaken. If not-they are literally right next door, so you would have to walk about 15 feet maybe to get to the next building. Very winter friendly. However I think one of the dorm buildings was on the other side of the commons (its like a 10 minute walk I think) so thats not so winter friendly if you end up over there)
