I would suspect you have found out by now.

Our son is in, but now deciding between DS and Yale.

Second round applicants were notified in early March of their status. Applicants who were offered spots were telephoned the first week of March (and sent an acceptance packet), while those who were not were notified about a week later.

The preferred deadline for response was April 15th, so next year's class should be filling out.

CBParent, out of curiousity, who is your son? I was invited to attend DS, but chose not to in order to attend Duke as a Robertson scholar. The decision was the hardest I've ever made, so I understand the difficulty your son might be having in choosing.

-Yousef AbuGharbieh

Interesting that you said applicants were notified in early March. Maybe it's because he was in the last group visiting DS, but our son didn't hear until last week. He was told they would like to hear by May 1.

Congrats on being named a Roberton Scholar. Sounds like an incredible opportunity. But then, so is Deep Springs. How did you finally decide?

I'd rather not leave our son's name here, but I don't mind telling you if you email me.

Congratulations to you both.

CB parent, I would say your son was offered a spot one of the first 12 didn't take - probably Yousef! Such choices!

I heard Deep Springs has the best Keggers around, rivaling Chico State, any truth to this?

I think you're right--I heard 6 people got kicked out last year for drinking.

Really!? Wow, I've lost all respect for Deep Spring students now.

--Although it is rather impressive they were capable of rivaling Chico state.

Absolutely not true. There are only 26 students and no drinking or drugs allowed on campus. If that were true they would be admitting more than the 12 they admitted this spring to make up the difference.

calimon,

DartmouthorBust was just playing a little game, and I'm was going along with it. I think both of us know that there are no drugs or drinks allowed at Deep Springs. But thanks for making that clear for the rest of the collegeconfidential community.

So wait, it's not true? I'm so confused...
