Like Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholars award, etc?
Anyone know the type of profile of people who get their 100% scholarships?

It's as hard as the Robertson or the Jefferson, I would say.

In other words, twice as hard as getting into HYPS.

I want to meet someone who earns any of these scholarships. it seems like the average robertson scholar going into college has done what an amazing student at a great school has done by the time they graduate.

I don't think it's quite that intense. I got rejected from HYP and duke, but I still got a full tuition award.

I think there's probably about 30 arts and science college scholars in each entering freshman class, and they probably offer close to twice that many. I think most of them are 34/35 ACT or 1500+ SAT

Each school runs their scholarship program more or less seperately from the others ... the information above is for arts and science ... the other schools have their own scholarship programs

Yeah - the arts and sciences would apply to me.

I read about the two other scholarships programs, but they seem devoted to things like diversity, while the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholars seems more holistic - definitely more academically inclined than the others.

So, you got full tuition? Could I get a brief overview of your resume.. please? lol.
My SAT score (only taken once) is lower than I want, but I'm taking the ACT and SAT each a few times before jan.

Here's info on the College Scholars program: College Scholars Program, College of Arts & Science

While I imagine that most if not all of the scholars receive significant merit awards, they aren't necessarily full tuition. Some College Scholars receive a 3/4 tuition Dean's Scholarship (my d is one). If you go to the link, you'll see that freshmen can apply for the CS program. I don't know whether accepted freshmen have their merit aid adjusted.

I got accepted freshman year into college scholars, and they don't offer any extra money. : ( The only advantage is being allowed to take Honors Seminars.

i got an interview for the lanier/cornelius scholarship but didnt get it. i ended up receiving half cost scholarship.

which left 25k. lol no.

i actually think merit aid at vandy is extremely generous compared to other top private institutions. i received a full tuition scholarship (they don't offer room and board for merit aid) with 1490, 3.9/4.25ish GPA/WGPA (at a magnet math, science, computer science magnet)...sorry i'm old so i don't remember exactly. but, i also applied to peabody and not to the college of arts & sciences.

a Vandy rep who visited my school told me avg Cornelius scholar was:
Top 1-3% in class
Avg 1550 SAT
or 34 ACT

30 A&S scholars per class. I think maybe 100 full tuition scholarship are given, but only about 30% take it (we lose a lot of full tuit scholars to the top ivies).
A&S only gives up to full tuition. I've heard it's easier to get scholarships in the other schools. Blaire and Engineering give out full rides.
be in the 1500s, top in class, and have amazing EC's

I met all the stats (Top 2% in HS of 500, 1550 SAT with 800 in math, 800s on subject tests, SICK essay, extrcurriculars out the ass, great recs and interviews, etc.)
but I didn't even get an interview.
I have a friend in '11 that didn't have nearly the qualifications I had and got full tuition.
It's very subjective.
