From my school last year, everyone who applied got accepted in, and their scores weren't that great. More than 75 % of those people got in got less than 1600 in their SAT (3 parts combined) and less than 3.0 gpa (weighted), and most of them got into engineering and business major. Do you guys have any friend who got rejected from this place? And how were their scores?
Since they accept these type of people in so much, is the drop off rate high?

Perhaps the real issue is who stays in?

The drop off rate is huge at Purdue, especially in the school of engineering. While the phrase at the top schools, such as the ivies, is 'hard to get into, easy to stay' (or something like that) Purdue is pretty much the opposite.

Isn't that because majority of the people who get into the ivies are smart enough to stay which is the opposite for people in Purdue, which is why the drop off rate is high?

I'm guessing Purdue, and other large pop schools like UIllinois and Wisconsin let a lot of people in knowing that some drop out. Ivys and Little Ivies (like Northwestern and WashU) will make more of an effort to counsel and aid the students who do get in--those schools want to keep the $40,000/yr. pupils they admit.
