Anybody out there for whom Judge Judy is a guilty pleasure? Changes are coming!

I did not know that the original show’s contract on CBS is over—CBS purchased a few seasons to show as repeats, which is what our local affiliate currently airs 4-5 PM.

She has moved the show to ImdbTV, calling it Judy Justice. Her granddaughter joins the cast as the court clerk, and Byrd Petri-Hawkins is replaced with a younger bailiff. From what I have read, Byrd is hurt by the fact that JJ didn’t even give him the opportunity to audition for his old role. He heard about it all when she appeared on Ellen in Dec. 2020. This gives Judy full ownership and control of the show.

On Nov. 2, 4 episodes will be released for streaming, with a new episode released daily from that point onward.

After a tough day in the classroom, I would turn on JJ and just forget about my struggles for an hour. Yes, she can be mean, but boy, people can be petty and stupid as well.

Ask anyone who knows me, this is true…for more than 20 years I’ve been wanting to teach a semester class for high schoolers in Judge Judy. In my class we would watch segments related to finance scams, loaning “friends”/family money/credit cards, landlord/roommate disputes, employment disputes, contract (or no contract) disputes, buying used cars, and the like. We would discuss everything we saw, heard, learned. I made my own D watch more JJ episodes than I care to admit…but it has all served her well.

I’m disappointed to hear that JJ blew Bird off - I thought higher of her. :frowning: Trivia - and somewhere I have a photo - the clipboard Bird holds…it houses the LA Times Sunday crossword puzzle! One episode I was watching and they did linger a little too long and close. I rewound, and snapped a pic. I’m an LA Times Sunday crossword puzzle snob. Love it. And only it.

My grandpa Jack used to call me on Fridays to talk about the episodes we saw during the week - he told me it was his highlight because no one else he knew watched.

Your gramdpa Jack wasn’t watching alone—10 million people watch, as Judy reminds us every chance she gets!!

But 9 million plus didn’t light Shabbat candles and discuss the week’s episodes with him. (I was his favorite)

My 90 year old Jewish mother, loves Judge Judy. She has been an avid watched for a long time. Some how, she can insert a JJ episode into many conversations. If I had trouble with a delivery, JJ has an answer; kids had an issue with a landlord, yep, JJ to the rescue!

I might be your 90 year old Jewish mother…except I’m not 90 - I too can insert a JJ episode into many conversations…now I’m asking myself if that’s bragging rights or just embarrassing?

I love JJ so much and I’m not even ashamed to admit it. I quote her all the time…“Umm is not an answer”. Can’t wait to see the new show and I’m kind of glad that Officer Byrd won’t be in it. He always annoyed me with the slow, kind of disinterested way he walked around.

I just looked on IMDB to get information for my mother on the show. When I clicked on the link for the trailer, it took me to Amazon, we have Prime Video, and it looks like Episode 1 is available, unless it is only the trailer for Episode 1. The episode is 24 minutes long, I believe with commercials, so maybe it is just a trailer; I didn’t watch it to see if it was the complete show.

If it is available on Amazon, that means mom can watch on her tv, as she knows how to search on Amazon; I don’t think I have IMDB set up on her tv.

Judy Justice is available for free if you have Amazon Prime - currently there are 45 episodes up. I think I know what I’ll be watching during down time this weekend.

New episodes of Judy Justice start airing at the end of the month, I believe.

The cases are interesting but she annoys me to no end. What a B-word. Nasty. Arrogant. Demeaning.

My dad used to watch it. I found it interesting and a bit sad because he was a judge back in the 80s. Neither he nor mom could understand when I tried to talk about what happened in any episode we just watched. Dementia is awful!
