Is anybody planning to take summer classes at UCLA? I would probably chill out in the summer and come motivated to study in the fall (HAHA!!)

how do you sign up for summer classes?

Here's what I'm taking:

Session A
Philos 1 - Beginnings of Western Philosophy
Stats 11 - Introduction to Statistical Methods for Business and Economics

Session C
Philos 2 - Introduction to Philosophy of Religion

You can sign up for summer classes simply by going to the registrar's schedule of classes (http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/schedule/), picking out the course codes for the summer courses you want, and then going to URSA (https://www.ursa.ucla.edu/Default.asp) and inputting the course code into the "Add Courses" menu for Summer 2005. Both sessions' listings will appear within the same Study List, so don't be confused if you view your Study List and it says there's a schedule conflict. There's still plenty of vacancies for summer sessions, and tuition will be due in your Summer Sessions Billing Account (on URSA) in late June.

What are some of the differences between taking summer classes at UCLA and taking them at your local cc? Which would you recommend

Summer school? Awww...so sad. I'm done! :D You're all pwned...in the face!

Seriously though, I recommend taking summer school at UCLA if you can afford it and plan on doing well. GPA boosting is always a good thing!

how much extra do we have to pay? Is the cost per unit and a fixed cost? what about the room?

Room is not free, but if you can land a job with On-Campus Housing (OCH), then you can get one for $6 a day.

Summer school is $136/unit, plus some other random BS fees.

and are the classes still open, i read somewhere they are all full.
Its better to take humanities in the summer, right?

some classes have filled already but some are still open.
I'll be taking Phil 166 and 155 over the summer

why would it be better to take humanities in the summer? really, I'm curious because my summers won't be open.

humanities as opposed to sciences? No, it really doesn't matter. Take what you want to.

Good to know. Thanks!

I think taking humanities and social sciences is better during the summer because you're more open-minded and less pressured than during the normal school year. That's me, anyhow.

how do u sign up? how do u know what classes to sign up for? what if u have ap credit?
thax

how much will the room and food cost? does the fin aid stuff cover this(i am an incoming freshman to ucla this fall).

incoming freshmen aren't elegible for summer session financial aid - sorry

i finally signed up, but i am not sure how to pay....
signed up for the
study of electronic beat music
geography 2
linguistics 20
greek 10

like everything else, the fees will be billed to your BAR account (on URSA)

How do new transfer students enroll? I submitted my SIR a couple days ago, but I still don't have a place to enroll on URSA.
