My daughter has been waitlisted at CalPoly & we’re wondering if anyone has been taken OFF the waitlist yet or heard anything about it. The admissions ofc (who didn’t seem to know much about this topic) said 600 students are on the waitlist & they’re waiting for funding to admit them. How can that be? Won’t CalPoly just take a student off the waitlist if another student says “no” to CalPoly after being admitted? Please, any info on this will help.

I was also waitlisted and don't know much about it, other than that it would take up to sometime in the middle of May to be informed about my decision. That is far too late for me to wait out so I'm going to e-mail them and ask them to remove me from the waitlist. Maybe that'll help your daughter. :)

We appreciate your letting CalPoly know you're not interested in attending even tho you've been accepted. Good luck wherever you end up!

I got waitlisted, oos.
This may 15 notification is just driving me insane...
What are the actual chances of even getting admitted on the waitlist anyhow?

CalPoly Admissions (who did not impress me as knowing much on this topic) told me there was a less than 50% chance of getting off the waitlist & admitted. The gal I spoke to was very discouraging. That's why I'm wondering if there are other poor suckers like my daughter out there. Thanks for responding!

I would get the name of the person you talk with.... my friend was on the wait list and he called and talked with the dean of admissions and he was actually moved up on the wait list in ME.

How can they expect us to wait on this waitlist if UCs are due by May 1st????

I would call them and let them know what schools you got into...my friend did and he just got in ...spoke to a Cindy in admissions

i think if you are waitlisted you are supposed to accept the next school you want to go to and then if you get in to cal poly take your acceptance back.. im not sure though
calling admissions would be the best bet...

huh? once you've sent in your SIR you can't take it back.

My son was waitlisted at xxx school & included in the letter was instruction to be sure to accept at another school. Waitlist would be notified after mid-March & at that time he could rescind his acceptance if he still wants to go to the waitlist school. According to the letter that is perfectly acceptable. The only downside is lost deposits...and another several weeks of limbo.

I reject UCI and they said if I changed my mind I could accept up until May 19th. idk if thats for all the school but that what it said on UCI's site.

hmm I did not know this. I thought the SIR was a contract basically.
