Anybody want to read an essay?

What a trite topic for this board, but I would like some help.

My mother said not to write about Model UN "because it's a big east coast thing" and she's basically trying to tell me to make our school look as backwards as possible (you know, emphasize the whole "rural" thing). But I do think the whole rural education vs. private education is touched on in the essay, if only on a much larger level level. But whatever. She keeps pushing me to write about this incident that happened to me early in my junior year regarding the response of our school's student body to an article I wrote about educational standards, but I'm afraid if I write an essay on that I'd come across as a bit too trite/stereotypical (you know, the whole "education is so important!" blah blah blah.)

BUT, I do plan on attaching a copy of the article as a supplement to my application and I know my teachers will be mentioning it (in depth) in their reccommendations as well (one will be from my journalism teacher.) I don't want to totally overkill with that topic (talked about it in my interview), but I don't want to raise any red flags to the adcoms, either ("If this was such an important thing, why didn't she write her essay on it?").

Basically, there's more to me than one opinion column I wrote nearly a year ago, and I want to write about something in the essay that isn't really touched on elsewhere in the application.

If you'd like to read it, just reply and I'll PM.

Thanks a mil!

I do have a rough draft of the other essay written as well if anybody would care to read it.

And yes, I would've put this in the original post had CC not prevented me from editing it!
