I am a junior, and I am considering to take the ACT because as a good student, I do really bad on standardized tests. If I take the ACT but not SAT, will it lower my chance in getting in Stanford? But, if I take BOTH ACT and SAT, can I send only one score that is higher than the other, or do I have to send both scores?

Don't worry, one of the freshmans in stanford that i know only took ACT and scored 31 i think. He also attended Stanford summer and earned two Bs.

so which test should I take? Does Stanford prefer ACT or SAT? If I take both, do I have to send BOTH scores, or just one?

Try some sample SATs and ACTs and compare your scores. You will need SATIIs, so Stanford will get all your SAT scores. If you have not taken SAT I yet, just take SAT IIs and send them. Then try to take SAT and ACT, and if there is a big difference, send the better one only.

believe me...take ACT...you don't have to study vocab
and they take your best subscores so just go into each ACT focusing on one area
Without any prep, I got a 33 for Stanford, but my best comp for UCs was 32
