I just recived my acceptance letter from USMMA yesterday and was wondering if anyone else is accepted/considering attending the academy?

Austin,

Congratulations! You'll meet a few others here, just stick around. And I'm positive you'll meet some cyber USMMA parents.

Congratulations!

My son got his the day after Christmas a year ago. Great day! If you haven't been up there yet. Definately make the trip. It is a tremendous place.

Again, congratulations!!

My application package should be complete in early January, so I guess I hear back from them in march? yeeea

Congrats Austin!! And will you accept or are you hanging out waiting for other offers first? You've got time to consider and I hope you find a home with your decisions. Knock 'em dead kid! clap-clap-clap

Taffy - Hang in there. It could stretch into April. I hope not but it happens. You gotta let us know the second you hear!

as soon as I hear, there WILL be a thread posted!

Congradulations, I can't speak for any of the 2010 crowd, but if you do decide to go to USMMA and have any questions ask away on CC. By being accepted you now are in a 7 month search for as much information as possible to figure out what the USMMA is all about. Good luck making the right decision for yourself. I should also tell you I am currently a mid at the USMMA in class of 2009. So any questions just ask and occationally people like myself do read what questions you have.

Congratulatins Austin1....

and hang in there Taffy

Austin, I'm the proud parent of a 2nd class midshipwoman. She has loved this school from Day 1. Congratulations to you on your acceptance. Key to surviving the first six weeks (after that it is a walk in the park except for the calculus and the chemistry) is to get into great running shape. You will run a lot the first six weeks and you do NOT want to be the laggard. Best of luck to you.
For Taffy, we're praying for you. You go girl.

Yay JimBo! Another KP parent! Congrats on your daughter! Yours musta had an easier time in Physics than mine is having now. The Chem was the lowest grade from last tri and he was glad when it was over. Til he got the Physics book. :) Has it gotten any easier the second year?

And just to let you know before Taffy gets back on here, Taffy is a boy. Don't worry, he gets that alot. Must be the name. Taffy you should have used RamboTaffyMan instead. :)

hahaha!!

not again!

i made this name thinking i would only make 1 post then for some reason i stayed..

Congrats! We had a long visit with our former hired man yesterday--he's a plebe this year--and he says it's hard, but he likes it. He says he would make the same decision in a heartbeat...

Jamzmom--second year was the sea year--when they sail---our daughter had a blast with 5 different ships in the Pacific--with stop overs in China, Japan, Okinawa, Guam, Alaska, Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Honolulu, Dubai (Straits of Hormuz). I cannot remember her complaining of the physics, but we did spend about $1,500 on a tutor for calculus. Thanks for the heads up on Taffy. Taffy, if you read this DO NOT use that name plebe year :-). Oh, incidently Taffy, this education is worth ---for four years---about $250,000. And the pay when you graduate, for only working six months out of the year (if you sail) ....unbelievable. The USMMA is one of the best kept secrets in the nation...trust me. JimBo46

AWESOME!! Five different ships? I assumed it was just a couple. Ooooo thats great. My son is going to beg for the trip your daughter went on. Going to Japan has been a dream since age 10. Ouch on the calc $$. Mine had some teacher help here & there in addition to some study groups. If you see trouble, should you push them for tutoring? How did you locate the tutor? I'm just hoping that he'll ask for help if he needs it & not let it get out of hand. And Taffy, go out there and get that ship back out in the harbor for them. I saw it was still stuck.

Heartcross - How was your KPer? Did he get a chance to visit with your dd?

Taffy is available for mechanical drawing assistance for the KP'ers...she is quite an artist...I MEAN HE...HA HA

O

Taffy ^ He's really a stickman in real life and has had one heck of a time trying to prove he's not to Dodmerb. Boss & I are still waiting on our portraits.

HA! Good representation of the ol' Taff-man...I agree the nickname has to go before he lands at whichever academy he decides on...

We need to help him along I think. What do ya'll think about The Taffinator.
No? Ok howsabout Taff the Impaler.

Heartcross - Well, its been a little while. Which way is dd leaning these days? Dyin' to know. The choices must be keeping her (& you) awake at night.

Navy2010 - Jamz just called me from Lazarre's Chocolates front door. Wish I could have snatched him through the phone. Its a long week-end so he's out & about. If you see a kid in uniform with chocolate all over his face, stop & wipe it off for me. I told him to go to Boss's house cause he takes in all manner of stays & feeds 'em, but alas I think Horatio Hornblower movie marathon is going on for some Plebes tonight.

Boss - question. Do "your" kids do anything similar to USMMA recognition day where they are recognized as Mids & no longer Plebes? This is the next big thing coming up & I'm startin' to feel the love from afar. They've been doubling up on some of their Plebe knowledge testing. Recognition usually happens in March. Maybe KP or JimBo can give us some details on what the day consists of?

I thought Jamz was going out for the wrestling team. Why isn't he at practice?
