Anyone Accepted Out of State yet?

Accepted from CA into Business. Top 17% of graduating class, 2110 SAT, 31 ACT. I don’t know how I got in but I am pretty happy :)

just wondering why do kids from other states like UT so much? and how do you plan on paying those OOS fees?(tuition)

^pierrechn, well UTaustin is a top public university in the country. I personally really like UT austin because of McCombs, it’s top 6 i believe in business. The atmosphere is also really cool, such as the live music scene. the tuition is expensive, but 55% receive financial aid, so hopefully that’ll make it better.

o ok so u didnt like the other 5 schools?

honestly, i’m sure they’re fine, but I didn’t look at them. I just looked at Austin, for McCombs.

pierrechn, if DS goes to UT, he will be the fourth generation in our family to do so. Its engineering school is rated highly, so that is also attractive. We’re planning on getting him in-state residency status after his first year (it’s not too hard, compared to other states) to keep the cost down. Even at OOS tuition rates, it’s cheaper than most of the other schools DS has applied to.

My mother and brother live in Texas. If my daughter does accept we’ll look into in-state residency as well, but will probably start the process after the first semester.

hr4990, t means you’re accepted the school!

I got accepted today too!!

congrats nata123

i applied to McCombs but it doesnt say “COngrats, you got into McCombs,” it says “You have been admitted to the School Of Undergraduate Studies ( Undeclared )”
since my first choice major was McCombs and i didnt have a second choice major, does that mean i got into McCombs, or i just got into Austin as undeclared? im kinda confused because im from CA so i have no clue how this really works.

for anybody else who received acceptances, can you copy and paste what it says exactly? thanks!

and congrats to everybody you got in!!!

it means your undeclared make sure you get high grades your 1 year, because Mccombs is suppose to be very hard to get into

got into mccombs from california. YEE!

“Congratulations! You have been admitted to your second-choice major in the School Of Undergraduate Studies ( Undeclared ) at UT Austin. Discover more about your admission and find out what to do next to begin your Longhorn experience.”

I put undeclared as my 2nd choice. It means you didn’t get into your 1st choice. But it’s okay! you’re in! You can always transfer once you’re in.

I just got in to UT Austin as a College of Communications major! Yay!!!

good job caligirl!

do you think they’re taking more out of state people this year?

Congrats to all who got in this weekend.
JKaplan and Maine Longhorn…Extra special kudos to you and your’s. We have shared in the past, and I am happy for both of you. , if your family needs advice about gaining residency, let me know. You can send me a private post. I feel like an expert. We will be officially applying in May.

To all of you accepted, and considering going or joining a greek system…I suggest checking out round-up. It sold my daughter on UT last year.

hr - your acceptance means you got into UT, but not into McCombs. The school of undergraduate studies is new this school year. It is basically a catch-all for those not getting into their desired majors and those who are undecided on a major. They put some big bucks into the program and are supposed to have a very good advising center for this school. My advise would be to be sure and attend summer orientation and speak with the advisors. They can tell you what courses you will need to take next year and what kind of grades you will need (very, very good) so you can transfer into McCombs. Good luck!

thanks for clearing stuff up guys! =)

@Socaldad42: can you elaborate on what exactly round-up is?

Accepted into college of communication from TN!

^ Socaldad thanks, greatly appreciate it and will most likely be taking you up on that offer!
