My stats were:
3.5 GPA
SAT I: 1440/1600, 2220/2400
good recs, decent essay
but very few extracurricular activities!
Do you think the lack of activities is going to significantly hurt me? Should I worry? TCNJ is my first choice, but I applied RD!... Anyone?

"i love how they have a whole matrix for giving money based solely on SAT scores and class rank.."

I love it but hate it. 1490...1500=full ride. but i should be happy anyway

I don't think the lack of many extracurricular activites will significantly hurt you. You have great SAT scores, and your grades are really good. What are some of your activites?

Thanks for your reply Motormouth! I was a part of the math club, science club, poetry club, library council, drama club and church choir! No leadership positions. That's about it! I never really liked school activities for some reason... It doesn't seem reasonable to reject me just because of that, but unfortunately, you never know... Hopefully we'll see each other next year! :)

i think if you qualify for any of the scholarships...you're basically in. unless the rest of your portfolio is a blank. like the minimum they would accept, in my estimation, would be ~1200 top 25%

but a lot of extracurriculars really help. thats what helped bolster my grades i think.

btw tally, your SATS are way above their average. dont worry about admissions.

I got a 1370, but I have a 2.9

My brother got a 1200 and had a 3.6 and was rejected ED two years ago

I'm crossing my fingers

What do you think my chances are at TCNJ RD? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=771555#post771555I

Since that post, my SATs are 1300 (720M, 580V, 560W) and I'm also taking AP French inaddition to the other AP classes I posted....Iwish I applied ED :-/

Would someone please post the link for the matrix that chemaddict mentioned? Thank you.

Thanks, Motormouth!

20 pts away from a full scholarship. Psht, like I'd ever take them again.

socksrule. i think you are a very strong candidate for TCNJ. i applied ED and i got in but i think any ED applicants gain a significant advantage to the process. literally, my grades are littered with C's and B's. even 1 D!
my 3.46 gpa is weighted!!! and since i take all honors/AP classes (A=5.0) that means i get a 1:1 ratio for B's and C's in honors/AP classes.

basically i think my strong recommendations/essays and my large variety of extracurriculars helped me get in. your portfolio is similar to mine except like +1.00 in gpa. haha

thanks, hopefully I'll be on campus with all of you next year, good luck to all!

If I get into the 7 year BS/MD program, I'll be seeing you next year also.

Foodisgood, what are your stats? Personally, I am going for Political Science. But I might what to major in International Studies also.

how demanding are the academics at TCNJ?

motormouth, my stats are

1520/2220 sat (760 M 760 V 700 W)
96.26 UW gpa (no weighting)
School doesn't rank but unoffical top 5%
710 Bio 780 math 2c

violin, varsity tennis, some research work, a couple of clubs, 2-3 "leadership" positions

hmm.. i have a rather odd dilemma and im wondering if anyone else has had this problem

recently, i got a letter for TCNJ, saying that they had recieved my complete application. included was a little thing that said that decision would come out on or around april 1st.

a couple days later, i got another letter, sent out the day after my application was declared complete, saying that i was accepted. what? didn't they say their notification date is April 1st?

second of all, their site says that scholarship information would be included in the acceptance packet. there was nothing there.. does that mean i dont get anything? im pretty sure i qualify for one of their SAT/class rank based scholarships...

that is very strange that they accepted you more than 2 months than they send out the letters, so they so. you should call the admissions office and talk to them about this. i did recieve my early decision answer a week before the 15th, when they said they were going to send it. how strange though. definetely give them a call.
