My DS has heard from all of his EA schools except for Stonehill. Anyone accepted yet?

I think their website says by January 15 we will hear (don’t know why it takes so long). If you look at last year’s thread on EA it was around the 10th or 11th people starting receiving them.

I applied EA and have not heard yet either…

Merry Christmas

My daughter is still waiting to hear from Stonehill as well. She applied to 4 schools EA and has received acceptances from two so far. The other school is UConn and we probably won’t hear until February is what we’ve been told, and this is applying EA!

yeah, it says january 15 on the website, i guess we will just have to wait to find out until then…also did anyone hear about the news that stonehill has increased their merit award offerings like 50% from last year’s awards. how exciting!..hopefully, we will all get good news on the 15th (or maybe a little earlier :)) Good luck everyone!

^ yes, they have increased merit aid this year. From their website:

Stonehill College has recently announced that additional merit scholarship funds will be available for students admitted into the Class of 2016. Merit Scholarships will now range from $10,000 - $22,000, an average increase of almost 50% over last year.

We recognize that choosing the best college requires the consideration of the academic and social fit, and a bottom line price that makes sense for the family. That’s why this increase in merit scholarships will not come at the expense of our traditional commitment to need-based financial aid. In fact, nearly 90% of our students receive some form of financial assistance.

Wow, that is good to hear the merit awards. It would be great if my D would just get accepted now, lol. This will be a long 2 weeks.

12 days…no big deal lol…i can smell the finish line!

getting irritated that E-mails are going unanswered. First I tried my state adcom, then last week e-mailed both admissions and FA…no response in regards to CSS profile filing.

Yes, I realize I can always call, but I find it quite unprofessional when they give e-mail address to contact with any questions, then don’t bother to reply.

A friend’s daughter recently graduated from Stonehill. She loved the school, got a great education, got a job right out of college, but her largest complaint was the difficulty she had dealing with administration and getting questions answered! When my daughter was dealing with the whole college admissions process last year, we also did not get many replies via email. We ended up calling. I agree though, not very professional.

Yes, I agree that it is very annoying and unprofessional. I think that if a school does not answer emails on a regular basis it potentially loses many applicants and/or admitted students. An example, my D was also interested in another school very similar to Stonehill. We went to visit, she liked it very much, and when we got home she emailed with various questions about classes. No answer at all even though she emailed at least 4 times. Three months down the road, we were inundated with regular mail and emails from this school. By that time my D had lost all interest in them.

according to their facebook page, decisions are in the process of being mailed out and should reach our houses sometime this week. good luck everyone!

Will merit awards be included with acceptances or do they come separately? Good luck to all! Anxiously awaiting news…

My son was accepted to Stonehill last year. Every time we had any questions or had any contact with the administration they were unhelpful and curt. Their rude and patronizing attitude continued to the point that it influenced his decision and he declined their offer of a place.
After accepting a place elsewhere (and notifying Stonehill) we received a bill for his tuition/room and board and when I called to point out that he didn’t even attend Stonehill their attitude was still the same and we were pleased that he was not having to put up with that for 4 years!

wow @4boysmum, i did not know that stonehill was that bad with communication. this is beginning to scare me a little, especially if they were rude and tried to charge you for tuition and the fact that it was so bad, your son turned down the offer. maybe i should question myself if i want to go here if this is how they have truly been treating you guys…

I know that there is more to a college than just the admissions/admin. piece. However, all the other colleges were welcoming and helpful. This was our 3rd son to go to college so we were pretty experienced in what to expect. We never once had a good experience in any communication during the admissions process. The college tour was OK, but poorly organized - beautiful campus though!
While the bill for tuition was obviously a mistake, I would have thought that an apology might have been in order instead of the dismissive brush off I was given when I called them to question it. I found it rather amusing and was prepared to have a joke about it, but received a terse, impatient response instead!
Everyone can have a bad day but during the whole process their attitude was always the same.

^ I wonder if it was the same person each time?

I see on their twitter that someone said they were accepted yesterday. Has anyone else heard? Hopefully something will be in the mail in next couple days here in CT.

My son is a current junior at Stonehill. Although not his first choice, loves it and decided not to transfer after freshmen year. I have to say we have three college students no achool communicates great but Stonehill offers a first rate education… The teachers are always accessible and willing to go the extra mile for an interested student. The school has turned out to be an unexpected gem
