yay...i got accepted! DANGGG they make their decisions so fast because it was just last week that I called and they said they were missing my transcript...that's hella fast! now i'm waiting to hear financial aid.
anyways, congratulations to everyone else too!

Congratulations, strangequark. Looks like they extended the Priority Application deadline now to February 15th, according to their website.

i got accepted today.. i submitted a little less than three weeks ago.. really fast!

Congrats to all accepted students!

I just got back from picking up my Drewid D, who went to Argentina for intersession. One of her friends went to China and another went to Egypt. Others are going to France, Greece and Russia in May. These are 4-credit courses in a study abroad program partially subsidized by Drew, so they're fairly reasonable cost-wise. If you decide to go to Drew, be sure to check out the Drew International Seminars (DIS).

I got accepted with a $16,000 scholarship! I'm pretty excited because it's the first decision I've gotten.

I got my letter yesterday and I'm accepted to the Baldwin Honors Program majoring in political science. I will receive the Baldwin Scholarship too which made my parents realllllll happy. Anybody else going to be a polisci major?

Cadbury - can you tell me more about the DIS? Do your really get to immerse yourself in the region or are there too many academic demands?

Hi WW!

As I understand it, the emphasis in each DIS varies. For example, the students who went to Buenos Aires lived with host families. The focus of that program was language and culture immersion. They had language classes in the AM and either had lectures or went on tours in the afternoon and some evenings. They also did an overnight in Uruguay. One of D's friends did DIS in Egypt last month. While they did some travel and culture immersion, one of the main focuses of that program was service: Students worked with kids in Sudanese refugee camps. So the focus and goals vary from year to year and DIS to DIS. BTW the academic work begins in the preceding semester.

I got my email today saying I was accepted :D

Wowww, that's a lotta recs. :)

See, I got SAT 1940, and a 3.96GPA for my freshman/sophmore years, and 4.0 for my junior and senior years, and I still didn't get anything. :/ I guess they don't give merit aid to internationals.

Poo.

I don't know what your financial situation is like, but the town of Madison is really cute. I bet you could easily get a PT job there to cover some of your expenses. There might be other policies the college has to help out internationals that we just don't know about too. You might want to contact the FA office and ask.

As an aside, with your greatstats I'd be surprised to see them let you slip away to another school because of finances.

Thanks for saying I have great stats :)

It was disheartening to say the least, not receiving any aid. I thought that if I were to receive anything from any of the colleges to which I applied, I would get something from Drew. But, alas, I did not.

Anyway, I emailed Drew asking if I can assume that I won't be receiving any aid. So, I guess I'll have to wait for their reply :/.

p.s. Yeah, getting a part time job in Madison would be great, but I don't know if that would be possible, especially not in this time of financial instability. Employers would probably want to preserve the few American jobs out there for Americans, and not some international kid.

Hey, don't give up yet. Madison is a college town so they are used to having college students all over the place. There is also the next town over, Morristown, which is probably one of the most affluent towns in NJ. Best of luck, hope to meet you in the fall!

Okay, so I received a reply that just said I should've received merit aid in the mail along with my admissions letter, and because I didn't, I'm not awarded anything. Sooo, I replied with questions about what I was supposed to have filled in to be considered for merit aid, and if international students are offered any anyway, so that I can warn other internationals in the future. Wish I had known this before :/ oh welll... their website is so ambiguous on the subject.

Priority Application deadline extended to March 2nd. Notification on April 2nd.
Where was the benefit of doing a Priority Application? Supposed to be notified early.

Usually, it also means "free" which is what it is now. I agree, priortiy is usually is before December, but I think that the only advantage now is saving the application fee and maybe knowing a little bit earlier.
