Just wondering who has already been accepted and what your stats are :) I applied in September to Roy H. Park Communications School and still haven't heard back... :/ Anybody hear yet?

Son heard about a week ago. He applied to Business School RD the end of October. Stats: 3.1UW, 3.5W, 29 ACT

Daughter heard 12/5 and is in! We are all very happy! Waiting on a couple more before any decisions are made. I.C. is in her top three easily!

I was very happy to get accepted to the Park School, but no merit $$$$.
GPA 3.4 unweighted, 1280 SAT. Admissions is saying the scholarships in the Park School are first offered to the top 10%.

I applied ED to the School of Humanities and Sciences for Applied Psychology and got in about 3 weeks ago. 3.0 GPA, 1790 SAT, 26 ACT, Great Letters of Recommendation, good extracurricular activities. I also had the support from someone on the board who lives in my neighborhood so that helped im sure.

Congrats to all! I.C. is a great college!

I finally heard back, and I got accepted to the Park School!
25 ACT, 3.6 GPA!
excellent recs and essays
and tons and tons of EC’s!

Congrats everyboddyyy!

I also want everyone who is thinking about I.C. to remember that an incredible Athletics and Events Center that is being built. I think when it is done, I.C. will have the best D3 facilities in America!

My daughter auditioned at Ithaca on 12-12-09. Has anyone heard anything?

I’m applying to Ithaca because of the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar Program, which would be perfect to lead to a career involving human rights, which is what I want to do. In fact, it seems like the program was built for me. However, is the school a huge communications school, like it seems? Are resources and effort put into the other majors, such as history and sociology?

While the Roy H. Park School of Communications at I.C. is incredible, it is far from the only school there. The School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, School of Humanities and Sciences, and the School of Music are all very strong. History is strong and Economics is really strong at Ithaca College. You can’t go wrong at I.C.

I have applied to the Park School in mid November and I hope to hear back soon even though I know it might be a while before I hear back. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! :D

Did anyone hear back from School of Health Sciences yet? We have heard of acceptances from other schools within Ithaca, but not Health Sciences. When we called admissions, they said because it is so competitive, we wouldn’t be hearing back for “a while.” This was about the second week of December. Any thoughts?

Ruala1 - My daughter was accepted into Health Sciences and Human Performance Preprofessional Program on Wednesday, December 2. While Ithaca College did not start out as her first choice, it jumped to the top after she did some thinking about her future. She loved the idea of the Preprofessional Program where she has two years to find out what she wants to do. Her mother and I are thrilled as we are both I.C. grads and think very highly of the college.

CollegeDad - Thanks for the info - it worries me a little bit now as to why my daughter hasn’t heard yet…could be because she applied directly to the OT major though. We too, were very impressed with health sciences at Ithaca when we visiting during an open house. Although the program for OT isn’t as highly rated, according to US News, as others she has already been accepted to, it is probably still her first choice, should she get an acceptance. We loved the idea that it is a 5-year program in ONE location, more intimate, supportive atmosphere and great college town. A little worried about Ithaca’s ability to secure top choice clinical placements, as 3 are required…but will explore this more if accepted. Do you have any knowledge in that area???

Rualu1 - OT is world class at Ithaca College so I am sure that is why you haven’t heard. I am sure they take their time with the OT and PT majors. I do know a couple students who went OT and they did really well there and loved it. In fact, one girl I know had tons of offers for work after she graduated. My sister-in-law is a PT from I.C. and could have gotten a job anywhere she wanted. I haven’t seen these ratings, but I think I.C. is as good as it gets for Health Sciences.

kraziespaghetti- Park, and… the Business… and Music… And Health school are all pretty well rated, gotta give some credit to H&S too.
It’s certainly not the most talked about, (and rarely given justice, or space) but still very good. I’m a History major, and it is extremely close knit, with a great group of passionate group of professors from any kind of history you could ask for.
The Sociology department is also strong, and they seem to have a lot of opportunities to study abroad.
All in all, the H&S school doesn’t get a lot of credit, but you can do almost anything, including creating your own major.

Oh, okay. Thanks! Do you know of anyone in the MLK Jr Scholar Program?

Echoing an early inquiry, anyone from the 12/12 music audition heard yet?

My S applied to Park School (BFA Film) in late October and still has not heard anything.
