First off, I'm not hating on Berkeley. I LOVE Berkeley. I love it so much that I want it to stay relevant. So... Here's some tough love:

What's up with Berkeley's website? It is seriously one of the most inconsistent and poorly-designed websites around. Berkeley partly prides itself on its excellent science/engineering departments. And yet, it has one of the least technologically advanced and least innovate websites of all top-tier universities.

Small example:
MIT math: MIT Mathematics
Cal math: UC Berkeley Department of Mathematics

They should really use MIT's website as a starting point to see how they can improve their web presence and image in a functional way that would help their school. (Example: MIT's opencourseware; MIT's math department website has actual information on it and doesn't just resemble a counselor's departmental information sheet as does Berkeley's website.)

I mean, look at what UCLA did to their image a few years ago! Their image and website is GREAT. I think Berkeley's image is already good (timelessly classic logo), but their web presence is just awful.

Does anyone else agree with me? This is an important thing in this day and age.

How do we get them to consider such a thing?
