Thinking about or set on appealing UCLA's decision?

Just curious as to what the stats of rejected hopefuls that are appealing, are.
My own-
Major: Communication Studies
GPA: 3.91
Pre-reqs: 2 in progress, doing well.
Basis of appeal: I added one of my pre-reqs late in order to make sure that i'd be admitted. Apparently, the update wasn't received.

I also did myself the great disservice of only applying to UCLA.

P.s. When are you sending your letter out? & are you attaching letters of rec?

Thanks mobile. I know everybody is over UCLA and onto Berkeley but I feel like something I hoped and worked for was just pulled from underneath me. Of course, I bear my own fault in this misunderstanding, but thanks for your words! I hope it all works out... :)

Also, because my situation is kind of technical, what do you think my chances are? seeing as how reversing an admissions decision IS a historically low occurence.

chances of getting into Cal- not much since i have too many units
chances of getting into LA after appeal- not much since my major at Cal is my alt major at LA.
chances of getting accepted to Cal then successfully appealing-not much

LA would probably strongly discourage it as well.. I don't think UCLA would classify one extra pre-req as somewhat important...but not "compelling information".

Your letter must clearly outline your reasons for appealing the initial decision. The information you present should be new and compelling. Your letter should not simply repeat information that had already been presented in your application.

been lurking for a while and I don't see a quote button for posting purposes, that's weird o_O.

I think they look through all applications very carefully since it is the most difficult major to be admitted into, percentage and GPA wise.

But yea, if you're that dedicated to try to get into UCLA I suppose you should exhaust all your options. Best of luck.

trebor- how would ucla react to my method. i think getting admitted to Cal is new and compelling information. and i had all of my pre reqs done. even about 4 of their recommended classes too.

"If the basis for your appeal involves specifics such as a changed grade or an incorrectly reported test score, you should provide documentation (e.g., a transcript or a revised score report) in the same envelope as your letter of appeal."
[I don't know how to quote, either :P]

~this single statement made me start this appeal. This is specific, and very technical information that was unbelievably important in them making a decision. If they didn't have all my info at the time of decision, wouldn't that warrant a second review of my file? Clearly, there was some important info. missing. I've been told the same from a rep that's been helping me and a couple other college counselors.

Additionally, my letter does not consist of pointing fingers @ where my update is. I say that I am concerned about my file being incomplete at time of review. The short term class I took already released grades & I got an A so it's on my transcript. I point out that I have a major GPA of 4.0 and that my academic record (i'm including a transcript) is a good predictor, in a sense, of how I will successfully complete the pre-reqs still in progress. Plus, to be honest with you they're not at all difficult. Then I go on a bit about why I like UCLA... Sigh..
Appeals are exhausting.
