I know I started the last thread, but I'm trying to meet other people who've applied to Queen's. I've been accepted, and does anyone know what "honors" means?

Yeah I got into honors economics but i dont think ill b attending... any1 know anything about economics at queens? also, i hear it's kinda "isolated" so thats freaking me out a bit... any1 been? Also -this is kindom and maybe i should have started a new thread for this- but whats better: honors at Queens, or regular at UoT?? :S

honours means a 4-year degree-it's basically the norm.

what do you mean by "isolated"? yes, queen's is in a small town but it's within driving distance to many large cities. also, the social scene is pretty huge there, so if you connect "small town" with "boredom", you're incorrect here. my brother goes there and i've visited there, and there is TONS going on-i mainly went to bars and clubs but there are tons of parties too.

i applied for arts too, but i haven't been accepted yet. american and international students tend to hear before us (i'm an ontario student).

let me know if you have more questions-since it's my 1st choice and my brother goes there, as do a bunch of my friends, i feel like i know a reasonable amount about the school, and i'll do my best.

hi,

i got into Queen's Arts and still waiting on Commerce to make a decisiosn. If i dont get into commerce at Queen's would I be better off going to UWO for the administrative and commercial studies?

medxb, what other schools in canada did u apply to? cuz i think UWO is mostly known for enginering, not so much commerce. But UWO is a gd school, so it shud b ok.
Gd luck w Queens tho!
And unless ur rly stuck on Commerce, Queens Arts is gd too. :)

actually, i haven't heard much about Western engineering-more commerce (at Ivey) and sciences. were you thinking of Waterloo (UW)? because yes, that school is definitely known for engineering.

if you're willing to put in the work to get into the Ivey School of Business for 3rd year, and you have your heart set on business, then go there. i don't know much about the administrative and commercial studies program on its own however.

well, UWO has the Richard Ivey School of Business which I would apply into 3rd year if i worked hard for 2 years. and well, I don't know what I'll do with an Arts Degree. But I can't decide cause Queen's is such an awesome place and it is internationally recongrinzed, but I've gotten into a program I would much rather do at UWO.

if you have confidence in your ability to make it into Ivey for 3rd year, and genuinely like your program at Western, then go there.

Yes, Queen's is more respected reputationally, but Western is by no means a bad school-especially not Ivey.

i got into queen's with a principal's award. i'm also in the middle of deciding between queen's, western/ivey and mcgill.

it's strange how western ranks higher than queen's but queen's still has the greater reputation. both are beautiful and wonderful places, i'm sure.

yeah i guess reps are hard to break....although this year Maclean's ranked Western as higher, it's still much more difficult to get into Queen's and most people do personally rank it higher. you're right though, they're both really good schools.
