Anyone applied for fine art?

If so, can you post stats please/ any helpful fun facts about admissions there? thank you:)

I applied to fine art at Roski- I haven’t heard if I got in or not yet, though, so I don’t know what help I can be about admissions. Right now my application status says that it has been “forwarded to the admissions committee”. not sure what that means lol, but there’s a lot of speculation in the other forums.

but here are my stats:
SAT: 2170 (660 M, 710 CR, 800 WR)
GPA: 4.02 W, not sure what it is unweighted
8 AP classes over the past two years (including AP studio art this year and AP Art History last year)
4 on the AP Art History exam, and a 5 on the APLAC exam
extracurriculars include soccer, singing, theatre, and a ton of community service

how about yours?? you’re the first person i’ve seen on cc applying to roski too this year :)

Wow tdawsn8, amazingly high stats for a Fine Arts major. That is really great!

thank youu
i hope its good enough!

Alisonslav1,

My daughter also applied to USC - Roski as a fine arts major. She had two portfolio reviews at Roski and they felt her portfolio was very strong but her stats are below USC averages:

GPA: 3.5
ACT: 26
AP’s: 7 or 8 (can’t remember)
plus 2 summer school photography classes at UCLA and one photo class and one advanced french class at The Paris-Sorbonne University.

So USC is definitely a reach for her stats-wise and we’re not sure if a strong portfolio can make enough of a difference in the Admissions Office. We’re guessing she has maybe a 50% chance. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! We’ll know shortly!

Good luck to all of the Roski candidates!

Wheaty

wow, tdawson, you are amazing!

My SAT is 2,140, total. My GPA is lower than their usual, but I am from a rigorous private school and had medical problems the first few years. Now that I have solved my complications, I am (or would be if my school ranked!) the top of my class in each subject, so I am hoping that this will help!

I also have outstanding volunteer work and I am currently showing art around Manhattan and have just signed a three to five year contract to show worldwide!

I don’t know if all of this will be enough, though gulp. USC is such an amazing school and it has everything that I want; it would be BEYOND a blessing to get in :0

Good luck to everybody, though! Post when you get your answers; it’d be fantastic if we all got in and could get to know each other beforehand!

Wow! My daughter just got her acceptance to UCLA - Art! Come on USC don’t let me down here guys.

wow, that’s still a great school though! good luck:)

Congrats Wheaty, but keep the faith…she will get in a SC.

SAT: 1790 ( 600 Reading, 620 Math, 570 Writing)
GPA: 4.00 weighted
6 AP classes over the past three years and 1 Honors ( AP Euro, AP Chem, AP Lang, AP Gov, AP Calc AB, AP Lit, Honors Pre Calc)
3 on AP Euro, 2 AP Lang, 1 AP Chem
extracurriculars: Editor-In-Chief of Yearbook, 3 year captain of basketball team, Youth City Council, a ton of community service, and a job
Other: I’m also half Puerto Rican which I think really helped and my portfolio was very strong. I had good essays and strong teacher recs.
Although my stats are low, I go to a very competitive public school. I feel like being Editor-In-Chief and my portfolio is what really got me accepted.
