Anyone applied here?

Hey everyone! I applied Early Decision II to Rollins, and waiting to hear back! Has anyone else applied?

Hello, yes i applied to Rollins college. I visited 5 colleges in Florida( i live in the northeast): Flagler, Eckerd, U of Miami, U of Tampa, and Rollins. My father liked Rollins the best, and it was like a small liberal art schools (like all the others) but beautiful with a wonderful classroom. It's the only FL school i ended applying too.

I applied ED 2 also. Never actually visited the campus, but from information on the internet it seems like they have a strong regional reputation for their business program. Also from NJ, good luck, hope you get in.

yay! I hope you get in as well! I also haven't visited the campus yet, but I'm actually going down to Florida next Wednesday until Saturday, so we're visiting it then! I'm excited! I really hope that it's as great as I've heard!

Awesome, if you can could you give me a report of the trip. I probably won't get down there until springtime and would love to hear that it lives up to its reputation. Thanks in advance.

No problem! :D

Only 3 more days!

Hey cddistance! I just got back from my trip down to Florida, and I absolutely LOVED Rollins, and what's even better is that they told me I got in ED and got a $13,000 scholarship!! They said that they won't be mailing out letters until the middle of this coming week, but that since I was there and they had a decision, they told me! I'm so excited, and so happy that I picked such a wonderful place!

The area is absolutely AMAZING (with a really awesome street named Park Ave. with a bunch of really cool shops).. it's a real ritzy area with a ton of really beautiful houses, which works really nicely with the gorgeous campus! What's also neat is that it's so close to Orlando which has TONS of things to do (Disney World, need I say more?! haha.. I'm a Disney freak :P) The only thing I was worried about at first was the smallness of the school, but I basically knew about that to begin with, so I got over it quickly.. lol.. In addition, a good majority of the buildings on campus have been recently redone and whatnot, so they're all nice and pretty inside :P

Dorms are pretty spacious as well.. bigger than other college dorm rooms that I've been to atleast.. Umm.. what else? It's just REALLY awesome, and I hope that you get in! I'm pretty sure you'll love it, so take a trip down ASAP! Let me know if you have any other questions :D You can contact me on AIM or email me if you need to :D Good luck!

Congrats Kelly...I'm applying RD to Rollins...what are your stats like...13,000 is a nice scholarship.

Thanks a lot! and yes, $13,000 is great! haha.. I had 1310 SAT and a 3.7 weighted GPA :D

Wow...hopefully there's still some money left over...Rollins would be hard to turn down if they offered me a good scholarship like that...plus, Rollins has the added benefit of being in a nice location for a roller coaster and theme park junkie like me. :)

i just got my acceptance package. i got the 15,000 scholarship, and i'm a finalist for the full room and board scholarship. it's a nice school, but its only 15-20 min away from my house so that's a big turn off for me. i also don't like the small size, but i could probably get used to it. i am thinking about double majoring in business and communications, how is rollins program for those?

Wow, that's awesome! That's the Cornell Scholarship thing that you need to compete for or whatever, right? Congrats! :D

That's a bummer that Rollins is so close to your house.. but I suppose you could err.. forget about living so close? hahah.. Anyways Rollins has the really really good Crummer graduate business school, so I'm sure that Rollins' undergrad business program is awesome as well, although I don't know for sure...

But yea, let us know more information on the scholarship and whatnot as you learn more about it! I'm still waiting to recieve my acceptance packet.. haha

thanks - yes, it's competition based. they expect 40 ppl to compete for up to 10 scholarships. not too bad. the letter i got said all the same exact info thats on the website, plus a hand written congrats note. and some other papers that i havent looked at closely yet. good luck in your college search!

Just got deferred ED with a 1300 and 88% GPA. Don't know how they came up with that, but it's alright since they don't have a track team anyway.

Oh man, I'm so sorry! That stinks :-/ I feel bad.. :(

I feel almost bad saying this now, poo.. hah.. but I got my acceptance packet :D I'm very excited that now I have some physical acceptance information.. haha.. Rollins '09! :D

I'm sorry CDD... that's odd. I thought you would be a shoo in. :-/
Congrats thekellysong! Have you visited Rollins? what are you majoring in?

Well like I said in a post up there, I visited Rollins January 13th I think it was.. I had an awesome time, and that's when they originally told me that I got in! :D

As for my major, I'm not too sure.. I'm undecided basically.. haha.. I'm interested in so many different things (Business, Psychology, and History) that I've decided that I'm going to decide once I get there.. haha..

And oh, iceangel, I friended you back on LJ :)

I have a feeling the admissions isn't need blind by just searching for it on the web. Can anyone verify this? Read an article by the Dean of Admissions stating how the financial aid money should be allocated and how they depend on a good percentage of people paying their own way. http://www.nais.org/files/PDFs/ErdmannFinAidChallenges.pdf

That would suck to not be admitted cause your EFC is low. Oh well should have looked it up before, my mistake.
