I completely forgot about the Dec 15 deadline for submitting scholarship app, student profile, and transcript. I realized it on Dec 15, the deadline, and I submitted my app but couldnt get my transcript or profile in and I wont be able to get it in til after the break, which would be Jan 4 (postmark date). I emailed the scholarship people, but they said everything had to be with them by the deadline to be considered. But she said I would be considered for scholarships given through financial aid department. What the heck does this mean? Im pretty sure I would have been offered scholarship money. My family is really low income, and I really hate to think that I missed out on thousands of dollars worth of scholarship money cause of a simple, but big mistake. What should I do?

You did it already. You called to explain and ask that no consequences come of your mistake, and they said no. Sometimes you gotta really pay attention to the details.

Some deadlines are real. Some are BS and you can jawbone your way into an extension. Unless you know ahead of time the deadline is BS, you are taking a risk if you do not have a system to make sure you will comply with the deadline.

It looks like you missed the deadline for the Honors scholarships, but perhaps not the Incoming Freshman scholarships.

I'm not exactly sure what she means by the fin aid department.. but she probably means something along the lines of community service/ EC awards.. or scholarships not offered through the university.. (that list that you could check off scholarships).. I could be way off though

I would send the stuff in anyway.. they are real picky about deadlines... but all in all they are nice people. I spoke to an admissions counselor personally and she said that she could put your name in for scholarships.. so I don't know if they would do that for you...

I'm sorry! I hope something will work out ..
