So I know there's a separate USC thread on the Transfer Students forum, but I was wondering if a lot of the people up for UC transfer also applied to USC? If so, for what major? And with all the UC decisions out now, would you go if you're accepted to USC?

I applied for Public Policy, Management, and Planning. I got into Berkeley, UCSD, UCSB, and UCD. I’d go if accepted. How about you?

If I get accepted to USC I’d go in a heartbeat. If not, then I go to Bizerkeley

I’m actually applying this year, but I was really curious to see how many people applied to USC since I never see talk of it around here. If I got in, my decision to go would probably depend on how much financial aid I get (which I hear USC is very generous with).

i applied to marshall but living in the bay area, it makes sense to go to berkeley

It seems like from what I’ve seen, UCLA Biz Econ cares mostly about GPA and completing the prereqs, while Haas takes a closer look at essays and ECs. Anyone know how it is for Marshall?

i applied to marshall but i already got into my first choice.

Jet, you’re a math major right? How come you applied to Marshall?

I applied to USC as a Communication Studies major, but I really have no desire to go.

1) It’s way too expensive.
2) They require 3 semesters of foreign language, which I don’t have the time or patience to complete.
3) I really don’t care for the campus. I never get a welcoming vibe when I go there like I do at UCLA and Cal.

game theory you dont see the talk of USC here because this is the UC transfers forum. go to the general transfer forum, and you’ll see a USC thread with like 3 thousand posts? or something.

but yeah, i applied for bus. administration. It would be a tough choice between usc and ucsd if i get in.

I applied to Marshall and I have already submitted my sir to UCB. But if USC somehow wants to give me a full ride which I doubt then I will go!

loller, yeah like I said I know there’s a thread for that. But it seems like a lot of the transfers there are from out of state, whereas most people here are in-state. I just wanted to see how many people here applied to USC as well.

I probably should have applied just for the hell of it. I was on a UC general ed track, but I did take 3 semesters of French. I got into Berkeley, so I may have had a shot at USC. I was just worried about the possibility of not getting enough financial aid and scholarships.

Applying to USC just for the hell of it doesn’t really happen much I don’t think. USC’s deadlines are way out of sync with UC deadlines and it’s easy to oversee them. Also, their application is very different from the UC application. You have to write a long essay and (if I remember correctly) three short essays. You also have to do quick takes, which are questions to which you reply with one word only. I think there are about ten. The financial aid process is pretty gueling too, especially if you live with a single parent like me. We had to get divorce documentation from the court, notarized letters, had to turn in w2’s and tax forms by march 2nd, etc. etc. Grueling if you ask me, and totally not worth it if you don’t want to go, haha.

So, what does it take to get to USC for a concerned commoner in California community college(CCCCC) ? Is it more difficult to get there compare to Uc’s?

I gave the wrong impression. I mean apply for the hell of it to see if they’d actually accept me. I’d totally consider going, but I don’t know how much money I’d get to go there. They had a February deadline I think, and I was already busy putting together my portfolio for UCLA and UCSC. I do regret not applying…

i applied but i am going to berkeley. although i love southern california, berkeley is the school for me

I applied to USC for Fall 09. When I first started it was my dream school, but now that I got into UCLA I don’t know what I will do. They are both really great universities. I applied as a Health Promotion and Disease Prevention major. I only know 3 other people who applied to USC from my community college. Mostly everyone applies to the UC schools.

I’ve decided that if USC accepts me offering me the same price tag I have to pay for UCLA, i’ll pick USC…that may change of course.
At this moment I’m just trying to figure out if I’ll be getting cal grant at berkeley or not, because if i don’t, it’s UCLA for me.

^ hey man, I know you’re applying for a philosophy-like major, but i dont remember which right now because of hitting the sauce

anyway, i hope we’re classmates in a few months!
