SSA is also used for Hutton Scholarships and maybe direct admit scholarships for specific colleges and schools within the university.

Hutton Honors Scholarships have dwindled in number over the past few years. If I recall correctly from last summer’s HHC orientation session for parents, only 10% of Hutton Honors students received scholarships. Case in point-DD, entered in 2009 and received a HHC scholarship. DS, current freshman with better grades, more APs, and slightly higher scores didn’t receive anything from HHC.

DS did receive a direct admit scholarship from his school, SOIC. DD did not receive one from the COAS.

All SSA applications have been the same in the past. There has not been any variation in what scholarships one is eligible to apply for. I would expect to see the same three choices on all SSAs: Cox will be one. I don’t recall the other two, maybe Hudson and Holland and one other.

The larger scholarships are very, very selective. It’s not something any one should “count on” receiving. If you do, great, but don’t expect it.

DS3 only has COX scholarship as an option. I believe that there were IFLE and STAR scholars when DS1 and DS2 applied. Both are excellent programs for those who want to get into research. I hope that they are still available for students in COAS.

Received me general acceptance on Tuesday, but I haven’t received the Kelley DA email yet, how long should I expect to wait?

Also, you do not receive an email about selective scholarships? I’m a really good candidate for Hudson and Holland and would really love to apply.

Collins Learning Center sent an email to my DD telling her she was accepted. We got all excited. We called to confirm because her one start still shows incomplete items and they told us that email was a mistake. But then they said as of 10/16 she has been admitted. Then they said no wait that is our IUPUI campus. Put me on hold and came back and said it would be ANOTHER 8-10 days for an answer.

So that was frustrating and disappointing. Hopefully it turns out good news in the end, but this is the one school that we are worried she won’t get into.

It’s funny how we get each bit of information on a different day, so piecemeal. All of the issues with the admissions process makes me wonder if this is typical of a large university. Will there be similar issues with class registration? Housing applications?

Here is our complete timeline, for those of you still waiting for all or pieces of your acceptance:
Here is our timeline:
08/21 - D submitted app
09/28 - HS submitted transcript (issues with new system!)
10/12 - OneStart still shows transcript and senior schedule missing
10/15 - OneStart updated - “Congratulations! You’ve been admitted to Indiana University”, although still shows transcript and senior schedule missing!
10/16 - received general admission email
10/17 - OneStart updated, now shows all materials received and has dates for SSA stuff
10/19 - received Kelley direct admit email
10/20 - received SSA email
10/22 - letter in the mail with IU Distinction Scholarship
10/25 - received Collins LLC email
still waiting for info on Hutton

I also received the email about Collins, but I haven’t even received the email on general acceptance… Still, it says “Congratulations on admissions to Indiana University.” Does it mean that I’ve been accepted? Or is it simply an email about the residence hall?

The email from Collins LCC was not a housing acceptance, it was just some info about the Collins LCC itself. But it seems it was sent out in error, as it says “Congratulations on admission to Indiana Univeristy” yet it was sent out to several people who have not yet received admissions confirmation yet. For the sake of the people who got this email and haven’t received their admissions confirmation yet, I’m HOPING it means you are admitted and the timing is just off.

We haven’t even begun to research IU housing stuff yet :)

That email from Collins was sent from the wrong database. They told.us that over 5,000 students received it in error. My daughter applied on 9/27 and they.said her file is still in line waiting to be reviewed. Told us it would be another week or two. Since others have heard sooner who applied after her, I’m hoping its sooner than that.

No news is good news Useful? Sorry couldn’t help it. They seem to admit pretty much exactly by the numbers they have in their admissions info on website if you are looking for statistics. Also for scholarship.

I was accepted a few days ago (after submitting in mid September) via OneStart and just got the acceptance letter itself today. I also got the Selective Service Application for College of Arts & Sciences, Hutton Honors College, and Cox Research Scholars. Stats:
SAT: 2160
GPA: ~4.33
Goods ECs
Good letters

Still waiting for letter in mail…accepted over 2 weeks ago…dont know if it has anything to do with me living in California. Dont know why but I want to see the letter and my scholarship offer in writing

Adding to D’s timeline:
10/27 - Hutton Honors College notification by snail mail (yay!)

Hubbie and I are U of I alumni and we were in Champaign today watching IU beat the Illini Not sure who I’ll be cheering for next year…

yankees - Based on our timeline, 2 weeks without a letter in the mail seems like a long time, even for California. Maybe it’s worth another call to admissions next week.

stbemtpynest…I called on Friday and they told me everything was in place, acceptance, scholarship offer said to wait another week and call back. Hoping to hear from Huttons Honors College soon. If you dont mind what were your D’s stats

D’s stats: ACT 33, GPA U 3.95, W 4.53 (honors & AP are +1, non-academic classes are not included), HS does not rank, so-so EC’s (mainly volunteer work and employment, no sports, music, theater, etc.)
