I applied in December. Anyone else?

-.-...
Apparently not many people applied to this (MY!) school.
I applied last year and received the decision end of March I think.
So far I'm loving this place and I can't wait to start the new semester Jan 10th.
YAY!

Ahhh March!!!

That's crazy. At least I'll hear from Lawrence on the 15th, so I'll (hopefully) have one acceptance under my belt, but I really am looking forward to hearing back from IWU.

I've seen your credentials before (I think), and you're a shoo-in for this place. No big sweat, relax, and have fun!

D applied and has audition for musical theater program on Sat.! She really liked what she saw when we visited.

I've been in this school for about a semester and I LOVE IT. Almost everyone here seems to genuinely love learning. The buildings are close together, so there is no worrying of catching cold during the winter. Greek life is big, but not too overwhelming that I feel that I need to join one to be social. My only complain about the school (just as other schools in small cities) is that getting around is hard with limiting public transportation. My life is just limited to 4 blocks away from the school (a bank where I deposit my paycheck). If you're used to it though, this school is worth every cent going.

p.s. I need to mention that I lived in Hong Kong previously for 4 years, so that might be the source of the problem.

has anyone heard yet (admission-wise)?

Nope.

......

Update: I got in!

They offered competitive merit aid, but it will be a few more months before I decide.

D got accepted to BFA in Musical Theater!!!! We are both excited.

congrats guitarshredder and fosselover!

Can't seem to find much information. My question is "how religious is this school"? How important a role does religion and prayer play in day-to-day life on campus? Thanks!

About how religious the campus is, it is not overwhelmingly religious, but there are prayer groups you can join: Selah/BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry), Catholic Newman Organization (CNO), DRL Ministries, Focus (Fellowship of Catholic University Students), Hillel (Jewish religious group on campus), Hindu Student Association, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, The Lutheran Student Group, Methodist Student Fellowship, and Muslim Student Association. DRL and InterVarsity are the two popular prayer groups. They have their meeting once or twice a week and sometimes they even invite preachers. Even if you just want to find someone to go to the church with, you can easily find someone in your dorm. I hope this helps.

Nurmanator,
Is public transportation really that bad? It looked like there was a bus line on Main. Do you visit any of the events at Illinois State?

Well, about public transportation, it depends. I came from a big city (HK w/ 8 million people), so I think that the pub. trans. is horrible. My friends, however, seem to think that the public transportation is adequate. We have public bus system that runs between the campus, downtown Bloomington, downtown Normal, and some neighboring areas. The bus runs every hour. Downtown Bloomington is only a short walk and it is easier to take bus from the downtown. I never visit events at ISU, but for those who do, they take their cars. Some students take their cars to IWU and it's not that hard finding a ride to ISU.

BTW, congrats for your D's acceptance to IWU's BFA Musical Theatre. The department is simply fabulous. I've been to a few shows here and they're always spectacular. I was kinda sad though, b/c Chicago's tickets were sold out 2 weeks before the shows and I couldn't get hold to any of em.

I'm glad to hear that you think the MT program is so good, nurmanator. My son was also accepted BFA MT and is getting close to deciding. He's coming down the week after Easter to sit in on some classes. He really enjoyed his campus tour last summer and his audition last month. I'm hoping he picks IWU - everyone has been so welcoming and the campus is really nice. Where woudl you recommend a freshman boy live?

Congrats for your son's admission, baymom. For freshman dorm, my suggestion would be Ferguson. I live in Ferguson and the location is very convenient. It's connected through a breezeway to the Memorial Center (where Saga/the dining hall is in), so residents don't have to walk out of the building in the cold winter. Munsell (another freshman dorm) is also connected through the breezeway. Ferguson and Munsell are connected through lounges. Ferguson, however, has the advantage of larger rooms and air conditioners that can be set individually (as opposed to central air conditioner in Munsell). Each floor in Ferguson is occupied by 24 first year residents and an RA.

Ohh... And if anyone or anyone's son or daughter would like to chat with me, my SN is listed in my profile... Have a nice day!

Is Ferguson co-ed? We live in S. Calif. where public transportation is a total joke. When cities are so spread out it gets very bad.
Thanks for the rave reviews on the MT. Just helps reinforce the idea that this is where she belongs.

Ferguson is co-ed. This is what this year's Ferguson like: Floor 2&6 for female students, floor 3,4,5&7 for male students.
