Hey, I'm awaiting my decision for the Fall '08 school year as a sophomore transfer and was wondering if there was anyone else out there waiting as well! Lawrence is my top choice by far and I really hope to get in so yay!

I was just wondering if anyone knew how transfer friendly Lawrence is. Is it easy for transfers to integrate into Lawrence social life or is there more of a struggle? I'm realistic as I understand it's harder for transfers to acclimate to a new college just in general but does Lawrence do anything to help facilitate an easier transition or is there a lack of support, due to the lack of transfer students present on campus as a whole?

Thanks and good luck to any other students awaiting decisions! (Which will be no one soon, I assume, since everyone will be notified by tomorrow, I'm assuming! :))

Joyce- While I am not a transfer to Lawrence, my top choice is Earlham, Lawrence was my top choice last year. Sadly I got rejected. When I toured I loved the town of Appleton, the campus is very pretty and they def. have an unique fun student body. Have you visited? If not, you should, and convey to them they are your top choice. Good luck! I know it is hard waiting, knowing all the 2012 are finding out today, but we only have 2 weeks left to wait. Where else did you apply? If you did not get into Lawrence would you be happy with your other choice?

im sorry this has nothing to do with joycelene's question...but i noticed that DefyingGravity04 said "all the 2012 are finding out today". I am international student and still haven't received an email from Lawrence. Do you know if we will be emailed today ? Thank you

I was thinking of applying to transfer to Earlham! I was going through the motions (at least on the Common App) but it never happened sadly. Are you applying to Lawrence again then? (Sorry, I'm just assuming so by your collective pronoun lol.)

To answer your question, I applied to only Kalamazoo College which is why I'm a little scared because they both have the similar kinds of admission rates :/ I really wanted to stay in my LAC environment (I currently go to a women's college) and I wanted to stay in the Midwest this time around so... yes :)

I did visit Lawrence over winter break :D I want to visit again once I'm home if I am accepted :/ I interviewed with my admission counselor, who I had been corresponding with regularly and continue to do so. I think I've made it very clear that if I'm accepted I will attend Lawrence -- I kept on asking Chuck (the admission counselor) about whether or not these classes would or would not transfer to Lawrence as though I'm already making plans in that direction to transfer out. Lawrence largely draws from my area (I'm originally from Chicagoland) so I hope that helps :\ I also met and spent a great deal of time with one of Lawrence's more illustrious alums, Jennifer Baumgardner, and asked her to write a recommendation for me and since I'm majoring in Women's Studies (Gender Studies at Lawrence, I suppose), it should hopefully help me haha X_X I'm pulling every string I can pull, which I suppose is kind of desperate but I really really really want to go! :D

I would be happy at K, I think, but I definitely have invested 100x more time in Lawrence than at K :/ I really don't know if I'm getting accepted at K. My fallback option is to apply to University of IL Springfield since it's the only LAC like public in IL under rolling admission and just go there or go to community college for a semester and apply to go somewhere in the Spring :/ I'm really REALLY hoping it doesn't come down to that, though.

Do I know you?! I swear your username looks familiar; I was VERY active on the Bryn Mawr forum (it was my top choice last year :D Still sad I was unable to matriculate but life went on lolol) so that's where I'm thinking I've seen you since I made a lot of friends on that forum and I met some people on Reed's and St. John's College (MD) as well.

No I am not applying to Lawrence again, I just browse this topic from time to time and happened to see your post. People ask me why I am not applying. Just checking the weather on weather.com from time to time, I just do not think I could handle the fact that a couple of days ago it was close to 70 here in Maryland and in the 20s there and snowing.

Well I really hope you get into Lawrence!! :) Good luck.
You might have seen me on the Bryn Mawr forum at one point I was really interested in it as a transfer but my mother looked at the price and said HA! lol. Also I don't think I have the stats for Bryn Mawr :( and it is now to late anyway as their application was due March 1st

Oh yeah haha, the weather there is RIDICULOUS... the weather where I'm from is pretty much the same, only maybe a few degrees warmer (or less freezing would be accurate.) Down here in the South, it's in the late 70s, early 80s and I have my fans on and I've been complaining about how freaking hot it is since our radiator is still on and everything XDDDD

I personally like the wintery weather but I love snow and I own a lot of winter wear hahaha. And down here in the South, I feel like I haven't changed at all... which I think is another reason why I'm transferring that I never considered before. Since the climate is so temperate here and nothing feels like it's changing, I feel like time is standing still. I guess I have changed in some ways since the beginning of the year, but since it stays pretty much the same temperature all the time, I literally lose track of time haha... XD

I just got my acceptance letter through email, and they met my full need although there is 5k loan. Any other transfers going to Lawrence this fall? Please contact me at nguyencaocuong11@gmail.com

I'm hopefully going to Lawrence this Fall :) As soon as I hash things out with my parentals. I don't technically have any need but my original college is a tad less so I'm still in the works...
