that is the EXACT same situation as me, sarabande. she tells me she can’t hear me and that i’m breaking up and then she just hangs up! there are times, though, that i get nice secretaries (probably temps 'cause i usually get that one lady). now, i often resort to hanging up when i hear her voice, :P

Sorry to hear about this issue! I’m sure this role requires a lot of receptivity, cheerfulness, resilience and hard work. Great recommendation, tamtastic, in terms of getting questions answered thoroughly.

Only 36 days, since we’re counting down!

Isn’t it 32 days at this point?

Sorry, jeancocteau! You are entirely right. I don’t know why I’m trying to prolong the wait! 32 days, it is!

Oops it is 32 days actually. Or 31 now. Sorry earlybird! My miscalculation

Pomona says decision by 12/15…anyone ever heard of them sending notice earlier? Or is that accurate?

Scanning the ED 1 thread from last year (yeah, I’m wondering, too), it appears they were postmarked 12/10, but previous years it looked like around 12/12.

Gasp. Awesome. :)

Alright, so:

29 days until the 15th
26 days until the 12th
24 days until the 10th

So close. </3

Did anyone applying for financial aid already turn in that 2011 pay stub? And did anyone get their materials received confirmation?

so
there’s a 33.33% increase in early applications at pomona this year.
if they admit the same number of students as last year (~75), the admit rate will drop from 31% to 25%.
whyyyyyyyyyyy
I thought Harvard and Princeton will take away a ton of early applicants so that other schools early application numbers will fall.

Here’s the link to the New York Times article:

[The Early Line on Early Applications for the Class of 2016 - NYTimes.com](<a href=“The Early Line on Early Applications for the Class of 2016 - The New York Times”>The Early Line on Early Applications for the Class of 2016 - The New York Times)

Hey, everyone, just remember that YOU are the real prize. I stand so much in awe of what you seniors have accomplished – both in the academic world and in so many other areas as well. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and support of one another do you tremendous credit.

Keep the focus on your gifts, your friends, your goals, and all will be well. You are terrific successes already, and I hope you have many people in your lives who are telling you so!

What EarlyBird1 said. :)

@earlybird: word

Yea idk why Im worrying about something that’s out of my hands now

i think all of us really needed that, earlybird! my calculus teacher told us the other day that he has never seen a class that is so down on themselves and just worried about getting into college in general. maybe it’s not just my school, maybe it’s all of the class of 2012 that needs to believe in ourselves more.

Yes, there is this sense of ever-increasing competition and stakes surrounding this whole college process-- ever more APs and awards and Junior Olympics and the like. So, I think it is really incumbent upon the adults to shift the focus, to let 17-year-olds know that we value you and appreciate you for who you are – not contingent upon the whole adult world of accomplishments like curing cancer and achieving world peace. You’re a wonderful generation, in my opinion. And you deserve some space in which to become the people you want to be in the time it takes for you to become them.

I just want you to know that I’m giving you a standing ovation of one – across the internet – from my lonely perch! :)

Of course the Pomona thread would have the kindest parents.

Earlybird1, are you looking for any seventeen year olds to adopt? Because I’m available.

Thanks, jeancocteau. But I suspect your parents would miss you!

i see what you did there, earlybird! “perch”, that made me smile received my confirmation email today! anyone else extremely excited now?

Earlybird1 not only has a perch, but is ready to be a Sagehen parent - chirp, chirp! My D applied ED a couple years ago, and this thread really brings it all back. Cheers to all of you who are certain enough to have applied early, and best of luck. Success will be amazingly great. Even if you don’t make it this round, rest assured that even a deferral is not bad news - many former CC posters have made it after an early deferral. Pomona really is a wonderful place; you’re definitely not making a bad decision in giving it a shot.

Good luck to all of you hoping to receive that large white envelope! Pomona has mailed out its acceptances a few days earlier in the past. It’s an exciting and anxious time (D '09 did ED). Wishing you all much success because I know you’ll find it - wherever you land.
