Wasn't sure where to put this, but has anyone here applied for a NROTC scholarship? I submitted my app in the middle of september. I was wondering if anyone had gotten a decision back yet?

My son has submitted his application--about the same time frame. He hasn't heard anything yet. Also, it doesn't appear the NROTC or AFROTC has contacted Dodmerb yet. Dodmerb only shows qualification for the Naval Academy and Air Force Academy. Does anyone know when ROTC checks for medical qualification?

My daughter had her NROTC interview during last summer (2007), and her app was completed in September 2007. She received her NROTC acceptance in December, so it may be a bit early to receive notice yet. They asked for medical remedials about the same time, I think.

Does anyone know the criteria for medicals. If you are med disqualified for USNA can you still do NROTC (for color blindness specifically) Thanks,

If you can't pass the farnsworth lantern test (the one with the little Christmas lights), then neither will take you. If, however, you only took the Ishihara test (the one with the dots and circles), then you need to find somewhere to take the farnsworth, because it is way easier, and the Navy will take it.

Hi all,

I found out that was awarded a 4 Year NROTC Scholarship my school counselor told me today.

I also checked the NROTC Scholarship page and it showed up there as well.

Good luck to all those waiting.

Respectfully,

Julia

p.s. ROTC also does not show up on DODMERB yet and I will need a waiver I had knee surgery in July but I was cleared last week by dr. to resume all activities.

Congratulations Julia. Were you assigned to your first choice school? Did you also apply to USNA?

Thank you! Yes I did Marquette University in WI was 1st choice and I have also applied to USNA as well.

It was truly a relief to hear now I have an official Plan B that allows to be serve in the Navy.

Now the long wait begins...... :o

Julia,

Congratulations to you!!

Thanks for sharing the information with us.

kmjg2000,

when did you submit your app?

I submitted August 19th or so.....It was right before the August 25th date my recruiter wanted me to get to the 1st boards.

Do you ever check the NROTC status on the webpage? Honestly, Wednesday night I checked and it showed no decision. Thursday my counselor called me to the office told me I called my mom and she said sure enough it was on the page "Congratulations" etc.

Keep me posted I have my fingers crossed it is hard to wait.

Funny thing is now I have to wait 'til the end of Jan to hear from Marquette :o)

Hang in there!

In the last couple days my status changed from "final processing" to "The selection board has your app". But it still says no decision has been made. Anyone know the schedule of board meetings?

Four years ago my S sent his app. in early Sept. He got his scholarship letter late October.

My twins did both, appointments came October 1st and NROTC scholarships came yesterday.

Now USAFA has come calling.

Open all doors you can; options, options...

Anyone else hear yet?

crcowboyfan-
My D had her application done in mid Sept for that board. She heard last week she got her 1st choice. She did receive an LOA from USNA and she is waiting to hear from the other places she has applied to about those scholarship offers.
Best of luck, I know how hard the waiting is.
