Anyone applying for Yale Transfer?

For the 2016 fall?

I am as well! Chances are so slim of course, though–I guess we can only hope for the best! Crossing fingers

@Calific that’s so cool! What are your stats?

Not very impressive to be honest. (I’d be happy to message you them if you’re really interested, I’d just rather not post them out here.) But I’m applying to be a sophomore and I’m currently at NYU. What about you?

I’m applying too! Good luck to everyone.

@Zwischenzug good luck :D!!

I’m applying next year but good luck to you all and please post your stats if you get in!

@Zwischenzug good luck to you too!

Good luck to you guys as well, @Calific and @Mona111!!

When does Yale release their decisions?!

I have applied to transfer as well, I am so nervous! Yale gives their answers very late in the game like most private universities. I am supposing we will know by the end of April or sometime in May.

I would love to know more about all of!

college attending
major
gpa
ec’s

@muffinpoptarte Same! I believe they release decisions around May 9-11th, based on previous years’ postings. crossing fingers. @jwalters1 Did you apply as well?

I am currently at NYU and I applied to transfer as an English major. I’m not sure what my GPA is with my second semester included yet, since I’m kind of in the middle of mid-terms. What about you?

@calific i would love to ask about why you want to transfer from NYU to Yale? I am applying to both schools so I am sincerely interested in your perspective. I am wrapping up at my community college and have a 3.95 gpa. I am a psychology major. I love both colleges programs, but I think of the two Yale is more affordable to live in the area?

@muffinpoptarte Good luck! Every student has a different experience, but here is my perspective: When I first visited NYU in high school, I genuinely loved the school in the sense that I could imagine myself being here as a student. And being here at NYU, there are moments when I think I could stay and be happy? but then there are moments where I absolutely can’t take it—it’s very much a love-hate relationship.

For myself, a large part of it is the environment. I love the city, I’m sure I will do everything I can to live here after college, but frankly I don’t think I’m ready for it. Social life here tends to be very limited to small circles and networking. Double emphasis on the networking. A lot of social life takes place in networking within bars, city life, etc. and personally that isn’t my scene. I think this has to do with the very career-oriented environment and focus of the students. A lot of kids get into internship and jobs and admittedly, I’ve followed along with that same route, but I miss the hard academics, rigor, and research. Personally I’ve found the academic rigor to be easier than my high school. Not all students feels the same way, but I have heard from some that do and while that might not be a problem for them—it gives them the opportunity to explore other things at the same time—for me, I like being challenged. That said, some of the professors here are incredible.

That got a lot longer than I intended it to, so I’m going to leave off there, but if you have any questions about NYU feel free to ask, you can message me as well! And good luck!

@calific Yes i am applying… I am a freshman at Wash U right now and feel the same way you do about NYU

Hi, I applied to transfer too! While I didn’t receive an interview, just curious if anyone has and his/her experience?

@foodie123 Hello there! I don’t think there are interviews for transfers if I’m not mistaken.

many people have already been called to set up an in person or skype interview. They are all in a seperate group, search eli whitney @Calific @foodie123

Ahh I see, I had forgotten about Eli Whitney. I believe the non Eli Whitney Yale college transfer doesn’t have interviews though? (Based on their FAQ)

@muffinpoptarte Interesting to read that it’s normal for Eli Whitney applicants to have interviews. I read the E.W. forum, and saw that you eventually applied to that program. Best of luck! I am a regular transfer applicant, so I guess it’s typical that @Calific and I haven’t been interviewed. Guess we’ll just be waiting until mid-May (or hopefully earlier) for the decisions
