So my acceptance package was mailed home and I’m still away at school. Did they take all of your credits? I really want to accept right now but I don’t know about my credits yet…
@BronxKid They cap the amount of credits you can transfer in at 64. So they’ll get rid of a few credits from elective courses not necessary to your major. Like I’d have 68 credits after this semester, but Columbia is giving me 64.
I took one film class as an elective, so they didn’t give me the 3 credits in film. They also took 1 credit away from a political science class so I’d fit at 64 (so I got a total of 2 credits in poli-sci). But they gave me everything else.
I’ve been rejected by three other colleges this week, but somehow the Yale rejection just really stings. I wanted Yale so much. It’s funny seeing so many people on this thread who are transferring to Columbia…I was trying to transfer out but I guess I’ll be staying in NYC for the next two years.
@anonymous55 I’m curious as to how my credits will play out. All of my courses here are worth 1 credit. Have you accepted yet? where are you thinking of living?
@dismay I’m so sorry… I only got into one of the four schools I applied to (which so happened to be my first choice, thank God). Where do you go to school now?
@BronxKid Haha, my wording must have been unclear…I’m currently a sophomore at Columbia. It’s a great place, you’ll love it…it just didn’t have the academic focus/major I wanted.
@dismay don’t beat yourself up then! Getting in to top schools as a sophomore transfer is hard enough, let alone as a junior! I hope everything ends up working out in the end.
@BronxKid I haven’t accepted their offer yet. I’m planning on going to the Transfer Lions’ Den event next Friday to make sure Columbia is for sure right for me, but I’m about 99% sure I’m going.

Does anyone know how good the financial aid packages are? I’m not sure if I can afford it, but I’m a semifinalist for a big scholarship I haven’t heard back from yet…
