I applied about 10minutes ago. =P

DD's October SAT scores (finally) came about a week after my last post. Her combined CR/Math is now 1230 (580 verbal, 650 math). She's hoping that small increase will ease her acceptance to Santa Clara. She's also hoping that her honors Spanish IV course in 10th grade will be sufficient to satisfy their foreign language requirement (level 4 proficiency).

I applied EA this year, number one choice thus far. I consider it nearly a safety (knock on wood) but nothing's certain these days, and I'd very much love to get into their Honors Program, though I'm not holding my breath in college admissions. However, financial aid is a big consideration for me and as far as I can tell, Santa Clara is either ridiculously generous or ridiculously stingy, so it will all come down to money.

do you know when we find out from santa clara if we applied EA?

Their website says decisions are mailed by the end of December. We are sort of hoping they get mailed earlier than that!!

yeah seriously!!! does anyone know from past experience? like is there any chance i could get it, say, tomorrow, or very soon?

i read in the archives that last year that EA decisions were sent around December 19th. Which means 1 more week to go. I havent even thought about the 25th, I have been looking forward to the 19th so much.

could everyone who applied ea post their stats? i'm just curious what the competition looks like. i'll start it off:

I'm thinking it is a good match, but you can never be sure these days.

These SAT scores in particular are beginning to make me worry. DD's class rank and GPA are fine, but her SAT's are not nearly what the rest of you are posting. I guess we should brace for a thin envelope.

thumper - i really don't think there is any need to worry. first, these SAT scores are all well above average for santa clara (especially the 2210, which is rather enormous). i myself am consideting scu to be somewhat of a safetyish match (not to diss scu, though i may get into higher ranked colleges i think there is a very high possibility that i will end up at scu, *if accepted, cuz it's so awesome!). second, sat scores aren't everything; not by a long shot. i have looked at your daughters stats and accomplishments, and they are great. i think she has a fantastic shot. by the way, i think the average SAT for the class of 2009 WAS a 1230. fat envelopes all around so far is what im thinkin.

Haha. I wouldn't worry about SATs - considering it's SCU, they undoubtedly place a heavy emphasis on leadership and community service. thumper, I wouldn't worry about it. :) Holden - I, too, consider it somewhat a safety (knock on wood as much as anything is a safety these days...) but I'd choose it over most, if not all, the other schools I'm applying to. It all comes down to price, unfortunately. crosses fingers

i second that. i dont see why anyone who has posted do far would be denied.

woot! i got in! can't believe it came this early. i was nervous for a second, cuz it's not the thickest of envelopes, just to let you guys know. good luck everyone. im hoping for 100% acceptance on the scu board.

ALREADY??! Congratulations!

...ALREADY??!

haha, ya it is strange how early it was. what, like 10 days or so? i don't even live in california.

ooh exciting! congratulations!! wait what do you mean about 10 days? 10 days since what? (ps thank you for the envelope info)

thanks. 10 days early is what i was saying. i think they were supposed to be mailed around xmas time...
