Grinnell is no. 2 on ds’s list. He’s applied to a variety of schools – in-state. OOS, large small, public, private.

Good luck to everyone. The wait seems WAY too long!!

For the internationals out there: There is a good chance that, if accepted, you will get a call about two days before the notification date, to inform you about your acceptance. That is what happened to me and a couple of other internationals I know. I learned, I think three days before the official notification date. However if you don’t get a call, it doesn’t mean you are rejected. Good luck!

Good luck to you all. I was excited just like you, but recently I’ve realized, that US collges arent my only option and I’ve been oractically accepted to Law and Economics faculty in my country, so there’s much less pressure on me.
Anyways, I’d still love to get to Grinnell.

Cermi, congratulations for that. I’ve been accepted to a place in the UK too so I’m glad to have a backup. But the US is my dream so I reaaaaaally want to get accepted somewhere.

I love the thought of getting a phone call to tell me I’m accepted WHEEEEE!!

A new Dean of Admission started last summer so they probably changed the ways they do things and don’t do early notifications.

Hi Portuguesenja. It’s similar for me, I’ve dreamed about it since I was like 10, but I’ll survive if I’m rejected. Unfortunately, even if I was accepted, I wouldnt be able to go there unless I get sufficient FA. Any other year that wouldnt be a problem, but this year my parents have much higher income than any other year (twice as much asi in 2008) because next year the taxes will go up and we would have to pay higher taxes. That means that I could go only to schools that would increas grants and scholarship when our income goes down.

Our D got accepted into UCLA today, but Carleton is still her first choice.

Historybill

Congratulations to your daughter, but I think she won’t hear from Carleton until late March. Like really late March.

Cermi–I’ll survive if I’m rejected is a great strategy.Of course you will and there are great schools all over the world. The most important thing is being a great student.

Hey guys

I didn’t get an official early write or likely letter, but I got this email from the department head of one of my prospective majors informing me that my application was strong and that she’d like to get in touch. I have no idea how common such emails are, but it was totally out of left field. I haven’t received an early write or likely letter from any other school, and I don’t really see myself as deserving of one.

Anyway, we’ll all know our fates soon enough. Good luck to everyone!

maxdel, that has to be a good sign that you might get in, don’t you think?

I mean, that’s what I figure, but who knows? I don’t know how many of these emails go out. Plus, I didn’t interview for Grinnell, so maybe they’re just testing me or something.

Basically, the way I see it is if they’ve already made final decisions, then this is a very good sign. If they’re still finalizing decisions, this may be a tricky way to get more information on a prospective student before deciding on acceptance or rejection. Perhaps I’m just cynical.

so, thats a pretty good sign maxdel, I guess! good luck to you!

hey guys! i am an aid seeking international…will that decrease my chance of being admitted?

maxdel–I hope you are making contact with that prof.

lazyboy, depends on your application.

I’M IN!!!

They just called me and told me that the letter was already sent by FedEx and that tomorrow I can check it out online!

So excited! Second decision and already got one acceptance!

OMG! Cermi congrats!!! So, the decisions are being already released or is that a special case of yours?

EDIT: Did they say when they would release the financial aid package info?

Bilguun, Cermi is International

are U.S. acceptees being called also, or only Internationals?
