Hello! Is anyone applying RD to F&M?

bump

I am! Do you want to know anything else?

Well, actually, no. :P Just wondering if there are any applicants to F&M, that's all. To liven up this thread a bit? Mm-hm.

We have a Junior at F&M and a HS senior who has applied RD this year. The Junior has a dual major...Philosophy and Art History. She has thrived in the setting there, now living off-campus. As she has matured in the ways of college life, she has gained a deeper appreciation for the school, particularly 1) faculty access and 2) her friends. Were she to have been asked at the end of her Freshman year, she might have had a more caustic view of the school. Her best friend is from South Africa, so the international component is not lost on our D. Have you had a chance to visit the school or other places in the region?

Among other things, the new President seems to be at the vanguard of an initiative to convince more of the upperclass students to stay on campus...of course, additional housing will make that a much easier sale to Sophs interested in spreading their fledgling wings by getting an apartment off campus. Recently metrics show that 30+% of the upperclasses move off campus, compared to their PA cohort (Gettysburg, Dickinson) where that number is around 10%.

There are pros and cons to each of the LACs, and we think F&M fits right in the middle of that spectrum.

Hi Palidad.

No, I haven't visited F&M before. Two of my friends (sisters) are there, and they love it.
