Anyone applying to Germany? (IUB?)

Hey folks!
I just wanted to know if anyone is interested in German Universities. I've just received an email from IUB, saying that I'm admitted. that is the second college where I'm admitted (first one was Moscow State) but I'm still MIT hopefull. so anyone with similar aspirations???

wow! IUB is great. congrats!

Thanks, astrix.

I got accepted, too. I hope for an American college, but IUB is also fine. Btw, when are we supposed to pay the 500 Euro fee? With me it says before 1st of March. Does that mean that if I get accepted and go to study elsewhere I lose the 500 Euros?

Hey bogororo,
congrats! it seems to be true. they said the same thing to me: "500 euros before March, 1. And what's about finaid. does anybody know what is their average packet is?
Oh, well...

Hey meder,

how much do you have to pay/yr at IUB? I'm from Germany, and pretty sure that I would not have to pay a penny to attend a German University b/c it's for free. Just curious about the situatin for int'ls and if they'd have to pay...

great going..........gonna apply myself

hey meder could i have your stats please ?

yes, that would be nice. bogororo yours too :)

nisipsi,
a good friend of mine is currently a freshman at IUB and told me that about 60% of the students there receive full rides... they get lots of funds for their strong undergraduate research so they're very generous. IUB is truly "need blind"!

btw her stats were:

1200 sat
1.8 german abitur
decent ec's including thiMUN
did not apply for finaid tho

Ok, 1580 SAT
740W, 800IIC, 760Phy
300 TOEFL
9.68/10 maximum GPA
intl. debating champion and trainer
applied for FA

i am applying to IUB too....

1490 SAT
590 Wr, 800 Chem, 800 MATHS IIC
280TOEFL

Im alsp applyin to IUB
1430 SAT-I
760 Math IIC 730 Math IC 680 Writing
277 TOEFL
94% in Indian CBSE-X Boards ( GPA - 4.0/4.0)
Rank - 3/138
District Rankl - 16/2500 approx
Im also a diploma holder in Indian Classical Music (Tabla) . I shall be sending a CD along.

Asking for Finaid . Lets see...

Hey guys!
nisipisi, IUB is private and I think that even german people have to pay smth there. But if I new any German I would apply ti Technische Universitat Munchen, which is totally free for students from our country.
Hayden, well, my SATI is too low to show and I consider that as a big shame. SATII: 800 chem, 700 math2, 720 phys. 603 Toefl (PBT). Silver Medal from Intl. Mend. Chemistry Olympiad and did 36th IChO that was held in Kiel last year (I think that played a role).
ahtsisab and Hayden, your scores are good!
and Good Luck to everyone applying there!

i'm applying here, too, for round II.

meder: did you apply for round I?

hey, does it make a difference which round you apply for. especially if you need aid.

you should generally apply as early as possible.. the big bucks are mostly given to the earlier candidates..

oh. oh well. too many things on my hand to be able to apply now :(

yes, PierreMarie, I applied for the first round, good luck with round II.
Stauch, was your friend adding intels, when she spoke about finaid? 60% sounds incredibly cool.

meder, she said that usually ONLY intls receive aid of some form..
most german kids there seem to be very rich and don't qualify for finaid.. african, indian and eastern european students get most of the funds!

yeah, 60% of all students receive full rides, but about 80-90 % (which comes pretty close to the percentage of intls there) get finaid or grants or somethin'
