Anyone applying to Jacobs University Bremen?

Hi! I am applying to Jacobs this year, and have almost completed all my application now. Anybody else applying too? I heard that it's getting more and more difficult to get in because the applicant number nearly doubles every year.

Did you do your SAT?

I am applying :)

Bremen is a wonderful city! My family lived there for the summer of 2010.

@racheal52 @prostozina Hey guys I did the SAT for twice, but the scores are just so-so… What about yours?

@SmileAMile Then are you considering the university? The stats look quite good for a young university.

I’m taking SAT for the second time this Saturday, so don’t know about the scores yet.

Where are you from?

@prostozina I am from China. You? For me it’s just so exciting to meet people from around the world. The global diversity of Jacobs is something that really fascinates me.

Then Good luck to you~

I’m from Russia  The same here - I also love diversity :D

Thanks!

@prostozina Are you applying in ED? The staffs sent me an email informing that the decision will be available around Dec.15th

Your teachers submitted your recommendations yet?@Stevenlyan

No, I’m applying by Round I.

Good luck to you! :)

Are you applying anywhere else?

@racheal52 Yup I think my transcript and recommendations have arrived at Jacobs in late October. I complete all sections of the application except FA application. The FA staffs said it’s okay that the materials arrive a few days after the Nov.1st deadline.

@prostozina How did you do today? I also apply to several LAC in the US and some universities in Singapore, like SMU and YALE-NUS. The latter is a new university opening this fall. But Jacobs is my first choice anyway. What about You?

Whats does FA mean by the way?

@racheal52 FA=Financial Aid. Well perhaps you don’t need any, but my family cannot afford the tuition fee all by our own. So I apply for it.

How do you apply for it? Of course I want. I think I included that in my common application, correct me if there’s an additional

@racheal52 You can go to Jacobs’ website and complete the online application for FA. Some supporting documents concerning your family’s financial circumstance are required. They will provide you a financial aid package, which consists of scholarship, grants, loans and family contribution, some days after the admission result is notified. I heard that the grants only make up a very small part of the package, but Jacobs will offer quite large an amount of merit-based scholarship.

@Stevenlyan: did you apply using the online application or the Common App?

@racheal52 The online application. Because I did not plan to apply to so many colleges so I did not use the Common App.
