@stevenlyan don’t have any idea how I did on the test, but hope for the best
I’m applying to US colleges, LACs mostly.

@prostozina Are you in a Early Action/Decision program? If yes then which one is your choice? LACs are good! But I guess it would be a bit hard for me to enter the very best of them because my scores are only decent but not so good…

@stevenlyan no, I’m applying RD everywhere. I don’t have a clear first choice college.

Maybe you think your scores are not good enough because of CC post? If so, people here are overachievers. They don’t reflect total applicant pool.

@prostozina There is non-binding Early Action program. So you can get offers by January and decide whether you will go there in May. I think knowing that I have at least somewhere to go early really makes me relieved. Are there any other people around you also considering going abroad for education?

@stevenlyan since I retook SAT, it is not possible for colleges to get my hopefully better scores by EA deadline, and applying with my older results would only hurt me, so why risk? Jacobs informs students earlier than American colleges anyway, if one’s applying via Round I.
No, I’m all alone, only those whom I met on Internet. What about you?
BTW, do you have Facebook/Skype? We can chat there sometimes, if you don’t mind :)

@prostozina I have some friends who are also going abroad but it seems we are all going to different places.
I 'll be happy to chat with you~Unfortunately Facebook is blocked in Mainland China for some political reasons…Anyway here’s my Skype: live:stevenlyan. My earphone was broken recently (sigh) but we can still send messages haha:)~
When are you online generally in GMT+0? Since I am still having classes I am only free at night, from about 11:00 to 14:30 in GMT+0. Or we can chat at weekends.

@stevenlyan oh sorry about Facebook! I rarely use skype, but I’ll be occasionally logging in to see if you’re there :)

hi! I am from the USA and am also applying to Jacobs. It is my first choice. Does anyone really know the acceptance rate or anything? They say it is very selective, but that can mean a lot of things. Based on the SAT/ACT scores on the website, I fall flat in the middle of both. Coming from America I am used to schools posting all sorts of statistics and whatnot, so it is really scary applying to my dream school and having no idea if I can get in or not.

Well, Jacobs pretty fair, could you be applying through ED?

No, my parents would not allow me to. I applied Round I

@Mac546 According to some websites the acceptance rate is 40% or something, don’t know if there will be any changes this year. I am applying through ED. I heard that R1 is the most competitive round, and some applicants will be deferred to R2. How’s your score by the way?

@stevenlyan they arent the best, but according to the website I am average for Jacobs. ACT I have a 27 and SAT a 1220… Two parts I forget what the three part is, because no one here in America looks at three part really.

@Mac546 I didn’t take ACT… Do you mean that the writing part in SAT is neglected by colleges?

@stevenlyan Not by all Colleges, but by a lot of colleges yes. By all the ones I am applying to other than Jacobs, they either don’t take tests or they ignore te writing. I don’t know about the ivies

@Mac546 what else are you applying to? If admitted by JUB you would come, right?

@stevenlyan oh of course! it is my top choice.

I have also applied to a bunch of American schools, some closer to my home, so I don’t know if you would know them.

American University
American University of Paris
Suffolk University
University of South Carolina
Appalachian State
Furman University

I want to apply to a number of public German universities as well, but applications don’t come out until February. And I might apply to Franklin College as well, its in Switzerland.

Where else have you applied?

@Mac546

Well, I heard about most of them.And it seems that you really like Europe~
I also apply to some universities in Singapore, such as Singapore Management University and Yale-NUS College.

Wow then you must speak good German~ My German is so poor that I can’t take public German universities into my list. The tuition fee of Franklin College is too high. My family just can’t afford it and Franklin does not offer FA to international students(I am from China BTW, so I don’t have Federal loans or something like that)…So I just give it up.

Hi,
I’m from India and I’ve applied in round 1. I am applying to some US universities too so couldn’t take the risk of ED. My SATs are so-so: SAT Reasoning -2020(M-710, CR-650, W-660), SAT subjects(ML1-720, ML2-790, Phy-760, Chem-730). I have 105 on TOEFL-iBT(R-29,W-28,L-28,S-20). I am worried whether low speaking score might create some trouble especially when Round one is considered most competitive. I’ve applied for financial aid(LOTS of it) but I don’t think I need to worry about it as Jacobs is need-blind. What are your stats?

@thunderboltsid Hi~I am from China,
My stats:

SAT reasoning-2140 (superscore, I took it twice)
MA-800
CR-660
WR-680

SAT Subject:
ML2-800
Phy-770
US His-740

According to the websites with CR scores higher than 580 candidates are exempt from IBT scores. So don’t worry too much about your IBT.
I also apply to FA(also loads of it). But I think loans will make up most of the package. The percentage of grants seems to be pretty low.

@stevenlyan
I was an Exchange Student for a Year in Germany, that is why I am so hopeful to go back. I haven’t taken any German language placement tests yet, but I will do that in the spring if I don’t get accepted to Jacobs, but Jacobs is my first choice.

I am worried since my SAT scores aren’t the best, but there is nothing I can do about it. I don’t think Jacobs is popular with Americans though, since there are so many choices here.
