How long can the supplemental essay be?

bumpppppppp

I think 250-300 words is standard for supplement essays, but if they haven’t specified a word limit I think it means you’re free to write as much as you want. Still, try not to make it too long. I think 250 is a good goal, but it’s okay if you go a little over.

I’m applying to NYU and personally I feel that around 500 words max would be good. Of the schools that I’m applying to that have released their supplemental questions I’ve only seen one with a word limit of 250 words (Northwestern). Most others that have the word limit listed are looking at around 500 words max per prompt. With that in mind, although no limit is specified, 500-600 words max would probably be the safest bet.

Are you applying to SCPS like me? The deadline is Thursday.

I’m breaking it down to 250-275.

Because it doesn’t say, I tried to test it out. The minimum is about 250 words and the absolute maximum is about 600 or 650 words (can’t remember exactly but it’s the low 600s).
