We just got back from a visit to Haverford last night and my son FINALLY got an e-mail from a Vassar alum trying to set up an interview for tomorrow. He can do it only if our trip to Yale for a Scholars Bowl competition is cancelled because of the snow storm we're having right now.

Thanks, bethievt. It's interesting to know that they're still doing interviews. My daughter hasn't heard anything yet, so we're not particularly hopeful it will happen for her. Oh, well. ... Maybe I should ask this on a different thread, but how did your son like Haverford?

He loved Haverford as I told you by pm. He did have his Vassar interview because our Scholars Bowl trip was cancelled. Since it's not mandatory and informational, not evaluative, it shouldn't matter at all. Your D did show interest by asking. Maybe there just was no alum available in your area within the time frame.

My son had his Vassar interview last week and reported that the interviewer seemed even more burned out than he was! I guess at this time of year everyone is ready for a break from the process.
(Hi again, Bethie.)

bethievt--What still bugs me is that my daughter contacted Vassar by e-mail and phone on several occasions regarding an interview. Her e-mail was ignored and the curt, disinterested girl answering the phone in admissions kept repeating that they were still setting up interviews. (On March 10? I doubt it.) At the very least, my daughter should have been told it was not likely she'd get an interview. ... On the positive side, we were contacted through CC by two very nice, out-of-area alums, both of whom assured us that interviews are not essential. Still, from my daughter's perspective it would have been nice for her to talk with someone from Vassar, since the school could not give her an on-campus interview during our visit last fall. Oh, well.

I totally understand Hindoo and I'm sure I'd feel the same way. My son did feel good about getting an interview (with a very nice UVM prof, originally from India) and I imagine it would have felt good to your daughter too.

Hi Back, Skie!

I'm told by my neighbor who is a Vassar alum interviewer, that Vassar interviews no one on campus. It is done by alumni only. Still, I'd be bugged too and, as I recall, Pomona has lost a bunch of your daughter's stuff too. One can start to feel victimized by the process.
