Does anyone attend George Mason University? I am in need of some realistic insight into this university. I would really appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this school. Thanxs.

It's largely a commuter school...it got alot of PR from the NCAA tourney run, and it's a much more respected school for it

Good Law school.

I don't think a school should be respectable for its sports programs.

it's a school for rejects who didn't get into UVA or VTech

hahahahaha

Do any of you attend?

Does it have a respectable Government or International Relations program? and does anyone know how the students are? is there a good intellectual atmosphere? is it a party school? I know I ask more questions than Maury but I just need to know..

If you want IR in the same area, go to the DC schools- Georgetown, GWU, or American.

It's definitely a party-like atmosphere. The campus is very nice, but it's small. As everyone says, it indeed is a commuter school. All my friends who go there drive to classes from home. The administration is trying to change that, as they have built a lot of new dorms; I see them as I drive down Braddock. But they are running out of room, just as everything is in Fairfax Co. The school is somewhat on the rise, but not quite yet. The NCAA Final Four certainly made everyone realize that it exists, but it still has a long way to go.

Thanx for the good info. I got accepted to American and GWU but they gave me crappy aid and George Mason gave me practically a free ride so I would really appreciate all insider info on this school before I make my decision.

Does it have a respectable Government or International Relations program?

the Poli Sci program is very good, and George Mason's LS is VERY well respected!

their law school is pretty good from what ive heard...but for IR...id go to georgetown or GW instead...

How about George Mason's political atmosphere?

no no no GW>American>GMU

Does anyone actually attend the school???? anyone at all!

~17 people do

Thanxs.. I hope someone who attends can shed some light

GMU is the most racially diverse school according to Princeton Review, and I can vouch for that...there's tons of persians, koreans, spanish, african-americans, etc

And it is in NOVA, which is liberal...might suprise some out of staters who think VA is solidly conservative

That's really important for me so tha'ts a plus thanxs.
