Anyone attended information session at Brown?

I recently completed my marathon trip to the east coast schools. Of the twenty schools I visited, Brown’s information session was by far the most interesting.

Brown wasn’t near the top of my list before I attended, but the presenter for the information session was absolutely hilarious. I had sat through about 15 information sessions before Brown’s, so I thought I knew what to expect.

However, the presenter’s wit and humor were completely refreshing. The admissions officer was really able to present what Brown was about in funny and indirect ways. Everyone was laughing the entire time.

Has anyone else had a similar experience at a Brown information session?

I’m glad to see that you liked Brown. I did not visit yet, but have very high hopes for Brown. =]

I went to one. It was awesome!

The info session we attended at Brown last year was also one of the best. There was a professor, and a student. The student praised Brown’s open curriculum, explaining that you could take all your classes pass-fail, that you didn’t have to take any particular mix of classes, and that you only had to take four classes each semester. The professor then made her confess that she had taken five classes each semester, had taken a broad mix of courses, and had only taken one class pass-fail.

That is an absurd amount of schools to visit.

Anywho, yeah, I really liked Brown’s info session. The room it was held in kind of made me unsure what to expect, although obviously there’s no good justification for that, but it ended up being one of the best ones I saw.

I went to an information session last year, in my city (it was Brown, Rice, Cornell, UChicago, and Columbia…i think), and it was what made me want to go to Brown! The presenter from Brown was so much more interesting, and just seemed like an overall cooler person than all the other college representatives. Haha, and I ended up applying early, Brown '13!!! I would definitely recommend attending one of these sessions if your not sure about Brown, or just want more information about the school. :D

I loooooooved it when I visited!

Really? When I went it seemed like they weren’t trying. I had stayed overnight there with my cousin the night before so she had already given me sort of a tour but I dunno, I was unimpressed with the way the info session was done. It was in a chapel and the presenter was very quiet and seemed unsure of herself. There weren’t many people there though (it was a Monday) so that might have been why. I mean, Brown is still my number one choice, but I think that if someone didn’t have any knowledge of the school, the info session wouldn’t exactly have made them want to be like “AHHH BROWN!!!”

I was disappointed because I heard that their info sessions were really good. But I guess it doesn’t matter; it’s still my dream school :p

To OP, same here! I was looking through colleges and had a list of about 20 I was still interested in. aAter I visited the campus and went through Brown’s information session, I was convinced Brown was my first choice. I had 2 students leading my tour; one was very level-headed and knowledgeable and the other was more funny and lively. It was a really good match because it was helpful and interesting. :)

Now, apply ED. Hehehe. If I could do the college admissions process over again, that’s what I’d change.
