Anyone been contacted today about Richmond Scholars?

I think Richmond was going to be making some Scholar finalist announcements today. Has anybody received any emails or calls today?

nope...i wish...

My son got his rejection letter for the Richmond Scholars program today. It was a very nicely written letter, though, and quite considerate of the applicant's feelings. Stated that there were 95 finalists out of 3200 applicants. Ahhhh, well. . . .

i got that letter too. A line in there that puzzled me, though, was "our committee has been extremely impressed with you and hope that your interest in the University of Richmond will remain strong. THe official good news will arrive in your mailbox in late march." Does that mean that i'm likely to gain admission? I mean that would be pretty harsh to say that you should expect good news, just to find out you get rejected. l0l i hope that is not the case.

Leah

That is most definitely a likely letter.

thanks for the reply. That is very good to know. Unfortunately, an admission offer will do me little good without a scholarship. Oh well...

Leah

Leah, I got a similar letter with the same phrasing. It certainly sounded like a likely letter. Congrats

In that case, congrats to you also, Bm2. What other schools are ya'll looking at? For me RIchmond is only an option if finanicial aid is generous. Seeing as I didn't get the scholarship, it isn't looking too good. l0l

did you fill out the fasfa? u might still get that. But yea im still waiting for boston college, villanova, duke, southern cal. already accepted to miami EA and UConn EA. Where else did you apply?

yea i filled out the fasfa. My EFC, though, seems strangely high to me. My parents make a decent amount of money, but not enough to be able to fork over $25,000/ a year, and that is exactly what my fasfa suggested that they could do. I applied to UVA (which is my first choice and what i'm still waiting on), and i've been accepted to University of illinois--urbana, and LSU-honors college.

good luck with UVA, if Richmond was impressed with your app, im sure you have a good shot at UVA. If that doesn't work out, at least you'll be watching some solid Big Ten and SEC sports haha.

Thanks, and very true about the sports. My fingers are still crossed for UVA though! :-) What is your first choice?

probably bc, unless i randomly get into duke hah. Did you say that you have heard of others that didn't get a similar letter like ours? Another person at my school got one recently and I just want to make sure that its legit.

BM2999, my friend applied with similiar stats as me, but with a class rank about 10 lower. Her letter didn't say anything about good news in march. All it said was that the scholarship wasn't going to affect her admissions decision. Either way, I am very confused as to why they would send out letters telling us to expect good news. I'm thinking about emailing the admissios office, just to find out what they mean.
