I was valedictorian of my high school, graduated June 1. I received $1,000.00 ($500.00 from our local Exchange Club and $500.00 from the Teachers Association). I was surprised because I wasn't really expecting anything...Depends on your school...

Well, my school had 10 Valedictorians and 2 Salutatorians...needless to say, they don't give out money just for that. Heh.

My s applied to about 18-20. He got nothing. He only has one more to hear from. He's avg. grades (3.5); plays three sports; captain of two; and made high honors first three terms this year. (Mostly honors prev. 3 years.) He does have financial need. Fortunately, he is going to state u. and they offered lots of aid. But a few hundred would've been nice to pay for books.

I applied to 5 and got all 5 of them and they renew every year so i got around $15,000 which is nice that is around 7000-8000 pounds for my UK school

KING IS HERE, what scholarships did you apply for? I have been using fastweb and am disappointed because I have not won a single scholarship, and posters on this thread have been winning so many, it seems. Where did you all look? I don't get it.

I don't know if every school does this, but the main office at my schoool puts together scholarship lists. It's usually a page front and back of scholarships that they have heard of recently. We got them in homeroom and I think there were 15 lists, if not more, throughout the year. They were mostly local scholarships so it helped a lot that they weren't national.

I applied to around ~30 major and local scholarships. I received 5 of them. Doesn't really matter, Princeton is paying most for me.

I didn't apply for any scholarships, but I did get a full ride to VCU, a Tulane Scholarship ($76,000), and the Hodson Trust Scholarship ($93,000) to Johns Hopkins, which is the only one of real value to me... and is partly why I am going to Hopkins.

Congrats, fjc.

Here, just another "no" yesterday from a state organization-sponsored scholarship. :(

i applied for atleast 50 if not more.. I tried to keep track but then it got to be too much.. so far i recieved 10.. i guess 1 out of 5 isnt bad.. plus im still waiting to hear from a few

Where do you guys find out about all these scholarships? There are so many out there that either don't seem legit or I think I'll probably have no chance at winning.

fastweb.com and various other websites.. I searched google and as long as they don't ask for money or really personal information then I applied

i've won about 7 out of about a million. lol. but fastweb sucks.lol. none of the scholarships i won came from fastweb, and most of the scholarships i applied to were from fastweb. i learned my lesson, forget fastweb, just do school/local/really specific scholarships.

fastweb rarely works. i had more success with my CAP bulletin

how do you find local scholarships???? Jesus, I can't find any on the internet, and my high school is already closed for the summer.

Are you a senior?
If so, almost all scholarship deadlines have passed for Fall 2006 awards.

If not, and you are planning ahead for next year,
- check with your HS Guidance Office (when it reopens for next school year)
- check local papers for scholarship listings
- check other HS Guidance Office scholarship files
- Do google searches using your interest/EC areas, what you plan to major in, what you excel in, etc.

Hope this helps!

Are ther any GOOD scholarship websites then, besides fastweb?

What is a CAP bulletin?

college assistance program

is that thru school? (CAP) im having trouble finding local scholarships too...cept for about 10 or 15 offered thru the school (thats not alot, considering only 2 or 3 even apply to me
