Anyone care to chance me?

Right now I’m planning on applying to:

Brown
Vanderbilt
Pomona
UNC @ Chapel Hill
Northwestern
UChicago
Reed
Northeastern
OSU
CWRU

State: Ohio
White male, potential math/engineering major

GPA: 4.61 (W); 4 (UW)
ACT: 35 (E: 33, M: 36, R: 35, S: 36)
SAT: 2200 (M: 800, W: 720, R: 680

Class rank: 5/165

I’ve gotten an A+, A, or A- every grading period in every class every year of high school, but I might get one B+ this current quarter; not sure yet.

APs: US History [3 (awks)], Calc BC [5], Statistics [5], Government [5], Macroecon [5], Psychology [5], Physics I [5], Physics C: E&M [?], European History [?], Physics C: Mech [?], English Lang [?].

Senior Schedule:

AP European History
Choir (done all four years)
Linear Algebra [through Kent State]
Java Programming [through Kent State]
AP Physics C Mechanics and E&M
Honors English IV
Multivariable Calculus

I also took Number Theory at KSU over the summer and got an A.

Extracurriculars:
School Newspaper (2 years, Vice President last year, Editor-in-Chief this year)
Mock Trial (4 years, Secretary then VP, 4 best attorney awards)
Model UN (3 years, Treasurer, 3 superior delegation awards, conference chair)
Model UN Student Leadership Committee (only ~10 kids in this; we set up the conferences for all of Cleveland)
Independent Contractor for a business, where I do data analysis, product management, and web development
Varsity Track Sophomore through Senior year
Jazz Choir & Honors Choir (separate from school)
In a punk rock band where we play shows at local venues
Waiter at a pizza place
100+ volunteer hours

One rec letter will be amazing; the other will be very good. My personal statement is about an 8.5/10; it’s about how music has affected my life and I play 8 instruments. No interviews as of right now.

Thanks for any feedback!

Outstanding stats. Pretty much the same chances as thousands of others applying to these schools. You’ll need a better personal statement than 8.5 to get into some of these schools, because that is the thing that will set you apart from the other 4.0 GPA/35 ACT candidates in the pile right above and below your file. As long as you feel you can thrive at OSU, Case or Northeastern you’ll be fine. You’ll very possibly get into some of the others, but it is impossible to predict.
