Anyone Care to "Chance" my Son?

Applied to Liberal Arts
31 ACT
GPA = 4.6/5.0 weighted, 4.1/5.0 unweighted
No class rank (our school does not rank)
AP scholar
Captain of the football team, peer leader, ESL tutor, extensive community involvement

What are his odds?

He definitely is a sure bet into the LAS Dept with that GPA and ACT score. The middle 50% ACT Scores for Liberal Arts students are in the range of 27-32, so a 31 puts him at the high end of the list.

Depending on how competitive his school is the GPA could be a bit low, but you aren’t going into engineering or business so he should be fine. Plus, ACT is high (mine was the other way around with 5.3/5 W and 28 ACT, but I had an easy/small high school). I got into ChemE and I am pretty much borderline, here is my post http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-illinois-urbana-champaign/1214064-uiversity-illinois-chemical-engineering-chances.html</a> Overall, I say he is good to go.
