I've heard lots of stories of people at high school age making iphone/android apps and making tons of money, or just starting tutoring companies and earning money. I think it'd be a cool experience as well as teaching yourself alot of business and leadership. Has anyone ever thought of doing this? I am interested but I feel it would take tons of planning and time.

Yeah! I love the idea of social business - if you wanna start a business, look into that!

A potential problem to look out for is that, since you are probably under the age of majority, you’ll have trouble with contracts and financial enterprises that require parental consent. Any contract you sign on your own could be declared invalid on account of your age.

What kind of business do you want to start?

I’m not sure exactly how much gwap you’re trying to pull, but I run a tshirt business, which does okay. If I were of age, I could expand online, but since I’m not…

I was just wondering if anyone took the initiative to do so. I’m not trying to make tons of money, but just making enough to make a profit is enough for us high schoolers. I’m curious, silencefell, how did you get that business started? or is it like an online apparel store?

well my friend had a screenprinter and the supplies, so we made a few test shirts, posted pictures on facebook, took orders for about a week from kids at school/friends on facebook charging ten dollars, then spent a weekend printing our patooties off. we sold ~28 shirts, and profit was ~170
we also did some filming; when middle schools/elementary schools had plays or musicals, we’d film/edit and sell copies. that got us $3-600 each year since middle school (keep in mind we only did about one-three shows, so it was only about two weeks of actual work, for which 600 bucks ain’t bad)

that’s actually pretty cool. Are you still actively involved in this business?

a homework business! nah just kidding…

@mgu521 it comes and goes, but right now we’ve got a special for 4/20 ahahaha

I know two guys who make profit off of online MMORPGs. Nothing further will be said.

In 2 weeks they made $1200 and split it even.

omg***bqq and yes, they are Asian in case you are wondering.
