<p>Anyone dare to call Stanford and ask them how many EA applicants they have recieved and/or what their predicted admission rate will be for this year's EA pool?</p>

<p>haha...no. I might call on December 11th when the admissions decisions are supposedly released.</p>

<p>Last year they got about 4,100. The number for this year is about 4,400 -- an increase, but not as big of a jump as was probably expected.</p>

<p>7% increase in the EA pool, just like Havard... I really hope the EA admission rate wont go down much.</p>

<p>No, not too close. Well if the size of the freshman class holds roughly close to the last few years, that should be good news for the admit rate. Only slightly harder than last year, if I figure it right. </p>

<p>Connections? Not really -- just a good handle on the data. In reality, everyone knows <em>someone</em> -- the admissions people have to be really good about not letting connections interfere with their decisions too much.</p>

<p>Official numbers should be released very soon, I'd imagine, since Harvard and Yale just did. 4400 EA applicants, not bad, but also frightening...</p>

<p>I think I figured it out. What probably has taken Stanford longer is that they extended the application dealdines for applicants in the Southeast (to Nov 15) because of the hurricane season.</p>
