Anyone declining Princeton?

Shrek, why are you so negative towards LACs.

I got into Swarthmore, and am considering how hard to pursue getting off of the Princeton waitlist. Any advice on where I should go from here (of course, it will be biased, but all of these forums are).

(P.S. Jeff, if you are reading this, get a life)

One of my good friends at school got into Princeton, but he has turned it down for Stanford.

yea, I turned down princeton for stanford....

That seems easier to understand. Both are relatively small/medium sized universities, and Stanford is considered similar to the big three Ivies. My choice is between a small LAC, or a small Ivy university.

While I like the focus of a LAC, Princeton has more resources for Poli Sci related courses (Woody Woo), more resources overall (less important for liberal arts majors, but still important), and a very high level of students (not significantly higher than Swarthmore, in my opinion) while retaining that aspect of community.

However, it is not like a community where you can know a large portion of your graduation class, or stand-out in a field or activity as well (near impossible, with the number and abilities of Princeton students, where Swarthmore's size makes specialization easier).

So, do you think that it is a significant hurt to my application at this point not to commit? Should I?

Either way, I still love Princeton, I just don't know how much.

2 people I know have turned it down for Harvard and MIT.

Is it just me, or is the "Princeton vs. Stanford" thing very common? They seem to accept a lot of the same people. So many threads have been started concerning the two also. Hmm....

Princeton '09!

one of my friends turned down pton for unc-chapel hill

I turned down Princeton for MIT. It was a really hard decision, and I still get worried that it was the wrong choice...

My ex-boss' daughter turned down Pton, Brown, UPenn, Georgetown, Stanford. . . and some other incredible schools for Yale (she was w/led at Harvard).

Yup, I turned down Princeton for Wharton(at PEnn), and two of my friends turned it down for stanford.

princeton for wharton? ... well. i wouldn't if i were you, esp not after visiting and talking to professors on M&T day.

WEll i couldnt see any reason to go to princeton other than hang out with the nice people i met there...and I didnt end up liking the con program at princeton..like I had hoped. Since i know i want to do business... I didnt see the point of going to princeton...other than the name...which is a very alluring (but shallow way to make a decision..while we are on the subject Wharton - number 1...) P.S> -im not in M&T...

I turned down Princeton to go to Swarthmore...

my friend turned down princeton for unc-ch which i can understand b/c even OOS tuition at unc is 20 grand cheaper than princeton.

i turned down princeton for harvard. the two other kids at my h.s. who got into princeton both turned it down for yale.

At my school, Pton was turned down for Yale (2), Stanford, and Harvard.
