Anyone did or is going to do JSA Summer program?

Anyone here doing JSA Yale 2006?? Or has anyone done it in the past?

A couple of questions. First off... no AC (according to the packet). How are we supposed to survive for a month w/o A/C in july?... Besides that, I heard the course load was insane, but does the transcript they provide help for college admissions? How was the social scene? thx XD.

YES. NO A/C... sorry you just have to bare with it, or bring your own AC/FAN.

I went to the Princeton 2005 JSA. I heard that others were basically the same as what we had here at princeton.

Overall, the courseload is a little bit more than one would expect at a summer program. You'd have to start class at 830 every morning and end at 330. Lunch is one hour at noon. Six days a week. Sunday's for hwk. You'd have to take two AP courses (I took us foreign policy and public speaking). Some professors were pretty good, but some others were "not-so-good." (makes you fall asleep for three hours in the morning). Every night's RA meetings @ 2200 were pretty time wasting...once I had to run out in the midst of taking a shower in my bathing suit so as to not miss the meeting (they check for attendance).

But overall, it was a challenging, memorable experience. I started a JSA chapter at my school after coming back.

hayy yah i got accepted to 2006 JSA at yale too and ive been wonderin bout it too..im kinda excited bout goin but kinda nervous too..i gess ill see u there though

I went to JSA summer school at Georgetown and it was pretty much life changing.

I learned sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much about government and politics, stuff that you can't find in a textbook. And then we got to see all the places in D.C. where it all took place, and we had amazing speakers such as the director of the NAACP, NOW, a lot of Senators, the guy who formulates nuclear policy at the state department, generals from the DOD, the guy who runs the (formerly known as ) School of the Americas...

And the people are amazing. I met a gay communist from a midwestern town for crying out loud. It was just enthralling, and gave me a taste of college. 2 years later, I still keep in touch with 4-5 of mybest friends from there.

word to the wise: I got into Georgetown sfs but didn't endup going because I realized that it wasn't the summer school that I thought it was... it's completely different. so if you want to go to yale fo shizzle, take summer school with a grain of salt. don't write about yale summer school as the primary focus of you college essay.

I had friends who went to Yale summer school in teh past and they absolutely LOVED it. One's at Trinity, the other's at George Washington, another at Stanford, another at UCLA, and the other at Yale. It's such a rich experience, I can't even describe it.

and then you should join JSA. If you're from california, JSA friggin rocks especially because we get 1400 people at conventions, but everywhere else is just as cool even if it's a little smaller.

Anyone else have testimonies about it? I am super nervous about it. Is the coursework hard? How many essays do you have to write and most importantly, is it worth it?

Im going this summer to the one P-ton!
