Admitted student here, comparing it with SUNY Binghamton at the moment. The price will be the same to attend so I’m looking for some opinions on where to attend as well as some information on the accounting major at BU.

For the current students - how is the accounting major in terms of difficulty? job recruitment? amount of other students pursuing a accounting degree?

I would definitely say BU. Everyone at Bing does accounting, so you will just be another student of the masses. Since BU is located in Boston, getting an internship should not be too difficult since there is a financial district nearby. At least at BU, you can possibly get another concentration or even another major outside of the school.

accounting makes up about 20% of the students at the school of management. there are plenty of other concentrations so dont limit yourself! i wish i could tell you more about the classes themselves though.

i dont exactly know the requirements for the CPA here in mass.(which is the state i assume you’ll be practicing in) but the concentration paper i got says that in order to qualify to sit for the CPA within 4 years, you must being taking upper level accounting courses in your junior year as opposed to your senior year. hope that helps a little bit. it may be best to contact the school of management themselves and ask to speak with someone from the accounting department if possible

You may need to pick up an extra class during the school year or over the summer to fulfill the requirement. It’s a bit more work but you should try to get it done before graduation as it also looks good when looking for jobs during your senior year.

i have a few questions regarding accounting at BU. please help, thanks.

does BU offer students the opportunity to pursue (specifically) a second bachelor’s degree in accounting?

if yes to the question above, then what are all of the specific academic-related eligibility requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to gain eligibility to earn a second bachelor’s degree in accounting at BU?

are merit-based academic scholarships available for students pursuing a second bachelor’s degree at BU?
