anyone do/planning to do martial arts at MIT?

<p>I am especially interested in the tae kwon do club. How much does it cost?</p>

<p>I did tae kwon do until the 2nd (or 3rd) grade. I got my 2nd degree black belt, but since then I haven't continued. so if I do get into MIT, I'd like to do it once again. hope I get in tho. bump^^</p>

<p>Theres a sport-taekwondo and an ITF taekwondo club at MIT. The sport one concentrates more on tournament fighting and sparring (aka the good stuff) and the ITF one focuses more on Taekwondo as a martial <em>art</em>.
Time permitting, I plan to continue TKD at MIT.</p>

As far as I know, all sports at MIT are free. I'm on the pistol team - we probably spend as much as anyone, if not more, and it's still all free. There's this thing called insanely high tuition - you've already paid for it. =P Might as well join and use that money.</p>

<p>The taekwondo team at MIT is actually pretty good. I was at the US Collegiate Taekwondo Championship and they had a fairly large team. Overall, I would probably rank the teams as:
1. UC Berkeley
2. MIT
3. John Hopkins University
4. Stanford</p>

<p>Not completely true most classes are free but some require a deposit/fee like scuba ,indoor climbing.</p>
