Anyone ED II??

I got the letter almost a month ago,
explaining about Early decision II
Rochester is my first choice so far,
but my parents would not let me do early decision to rochester since the school's really expensive...

Now, I kind of convinced them by saying that I could get enough scholarship from rochester (probably not true)...

So anyway questions...
is anyone doing second early decision here??
and is it too late to change my status as ED applicants??

Happy new year everyone-

EDII? I thought RD deadline has been Jan1.

I have submitted my application for regular decision...
They sent me a letter talking about how I can change my status to ED II applicants from RD...

Interesting. Do they offer it to many applicants? What was their DII deadline and when did you apply? (I applied Dec 29 or so)

I don't know how many applicants they have offered...
so I was wondering if anyone else is doing ED II
oh, and they specifically didn't talked about the deadline too [which is kinda weird]
I applied nov. 29 th or in late november

yeah i got one of those change your reg decision. to edII, and it also came with a Rochester calender. I heard that people who got accepted got this calender as well, so its kinda confusing, you get the vibe like they will accept you only if you take the edii.

ED II deadline was the same as RD (Jan. 1), but if your application was submitted on time you can still request to be considered for ED II.

And I know at least one kid who was offered the ED II "option", didn't take it and was still admitted RD. So don't worry about not doing it. (Neither ED II nor RD is a certainty even if you got that email.)

I agree with Chevda; don't worry about not doing EDII. Neither of my two ds changed theirs to EDII and were admitted RD.

If I remember correctly, changing it to EDII means that you get an earlier answer to your application. At the same time, you are committing yourself to UR just as the ED applicants.

Oh, one more thing - my d didn't get the e-mail, but still got in RD with a nice scholarship.

to echo Chedva--D also applied RD, and received good merit aid as well.

If money is at all an issue--do not even think about ED!! (I wish more schools did EA--best of both worlds).

thanks for the advice:)
I think I'm going to stay with RD

when i applied last year i got the "change your app to EDII" as well... i did it, and found out within 3 weeks or so of when i sent in my ED committment form. i got my acceptance letter a week before finals (my hs did finals after winter break) which was a big relief, and i am so happy at U of R... can't wait to go back on tuesday! :)

i got a quest....so i applied to a different school early decision and got my rejection letter in dec. Now i get this letter too sayin i can change my status from reg. decision to ED 2. so can i actually do this since ive already applied to a diff. school ed but got rejected? also, im posting this on jan. 27, 2008, am i already too late to change it?

Yes, if you were rejected (or deferred) from a different school you can change your application to ED II at Rochester (or any other school that has it). Your ED I commitment is no longer binding.

Whether you're too late is something you should call Rochester's admissions office and ask.
